I think 73 feet would prove to be the minimum for a 8'' quad to operate effectively, without turret cramping, such as in the Kirov class cruisers.

263 tons heavier, lighter armor,  exchanged steadyness for seakeeping...

Not a bad attempt either. it's not easy to put everything on the ship, and have anything resembling armor.

I'll stick to my 195's.

TexanCowboy

Oh, absolutely...you would have to be insane to consider building that...if you want a decent cruiser that size with the armour, you need about 13,000 tons.

TexanCowboy

I find this to be rather a better choice in terms of cruisers..... ;D

Just a curious question here: do the quads actually benefit the design here? How does the 3x4 concept compare to (say) 4 triples? 6 twins would likely present crowding issues, I suspect.

Just a curious question here: do the quads actually benefit the design here? How does the 3x4 concept compare to (say) 4 triples? 6 twins would likely present crowding issues, I suspect.

Deck space. SS takes it into account I found. Cram those guns in on a short hull if you are short of long docks

Why the gazillion machine guns? NS likes these ships, Interceptor is still better...

Well, we shall see. I have one cruiser class that is a near match, This one us another such exercise.

Nobody

You have no engine, you might want to correct that.

Now you see why?

Yes, I also see your design has 0.470 B/C. I'm a bit iffy, then, on the possibility of mounting three quads on such a fine hull form.
