I should probably add that the Orange Republic was and is very unhappy, that the Dutch sold the neighboring Congo not to them but to someone else (Gran Colombia).

NUS add little communication with Dutch -  neither good nor bad.

Hello,

Glad to see a major power become active again. Welcome aboard!

As far as Russias relations go... well... they are bad, bad, bad. I don't think it ever got posted as Korpen had left and my 'free' time seems to drift away. But in late 1917 or early 1918, Russia abandonded the 'free/leased' port of Tanjung Pelepas, I could never find it on a map, Korpen said it was around Singapore.

Cd costing has changed many times since that so they should be much cheaper to upkeep. The guns were Russian built and payed but manned by netherland crews, the port was given in trade for that.

During the last war. Netrherlands immediately mined the hell out of Siamese waters with little to no warning I lost a few merchant ships. In fact several nations wanted to pursue better blockade policies and rules for mine location disclosure after the war. I hope it still happens. in my view, a short War(ie 6 months or less). Any 'military' goods coming into the nation won't have time to be used to combat anyway so why place neutral or even enemy merchants in such massive danger.

Giving a 3 month notice would cutoff neutral shipping  anyway.

Anyhow, We have cut off relations with the Netherlands, if you wish to follow a more peaceful and less antagonizing path, we would be happy to reopen embassies, ports and such.

Greetings! I represent the Deutsche Reich Brandenburg (DKB). As to Dutch-DKB relations it used to be rather good until 1907-1908's 2nd Pacific War. That war was started due to the Dutch's inability to leave well enough alone. The Swiss attacked a French protected convoy heading from Egypt (still the Caliphate of Cairo at the time) to Firenj (and enlarged Western Australia). The Dutch decided it was there place to demand the Swiss return the convoy and repay the French. When the Swiss did not Netherlands declared war on Switzerland. At the time DKB and Austria were allied with the Dutch and due to some other issues we had with the Swiss we joined the Dutch. After a while the Japanese joined as well as the Middle Kingdom. Before long it became clear to some that there was someone feeding the Swiss information on movements and what not. Soon everyone but the Dutch started loosing warships at an accelerated pace. The Austrian Navy was small at the time and combined with the major losses sustained by the Kaiserliche Marine Austria and DKB sought a separate peace with Switzerland. This enraged the Netherlands who disavowed a treaty with the Austrians and suspended relations with DKB.

This was followed by the actions of the 3rd Pacific War. In this war (1916-1917) the Netherlands declared war on the Kingdom of Siam (NPC) due to their attempts to find financial backing to finish the Kra Canal. The Dutch have always viewed the canal as a threat to national security as well as a possible drain on their finances. DKB stepped up and to the Dutch aggression and vowed to protect the sovereignty of Siam. After a while we received word through outside sources that the Dutch had courted the RRC to join their effort. This would produce a 'pincher' effect with Dutch troops moving up from Singapore while RRC troops invade Nord Indokina (North Viet'nam). l'Indochine (South Viet'nam) advised us that they had been courted by the RRC to invade Nord Indokina was well with the promise of keeping it and reuniting all Indochina under one nations. l'Indochine did not wish war and felt that RRC would renig on their word and conquer both N and S Indochina once DKB was out of the way so they offered to set up a ruse to put a crimp in the RRC's plans. They feigned attacking Nord Indokina while actually moving into a position to halt the RRC southward advance. With the Indochina front deadlocked it allowed the DKB/Siam force to put massive pressure on the DEI. We took the island of Bali and were invading Sumatra when the accidental explosion of a Dutch Frigate (What Netherlands calls their Armored Cruisers) was feared to be sabotage and the precursor of unrest in the rest of the DEI (either by foreign spies or locals unhappy with the war/politics comming from Den Hague). This caused a vote of no confidence against the Prime Minister and the threat of the minority taking charge of the government. In light of this the Den Hague offered peace terms which, after some negotiations, were accepted. These terms are laid out in the treaty section.

Had the war continued Rumania was in the process of transporting troops to assist DKB/Siam and it was (IMHO) rather likely that Iberia and Austria would join on the DKB side soon. With the Indochinese in the way and the threat of the MK back dooring RRC they would (IMHO) have pulled out rather soon leaving the Netherlands alone to face an onslaught which would have lead to the dismemberment of the DEI and the financial demise of the nation.

As it currently stands there are NO diplomatic relations between DKB and Netherlands. All correspondence is carried out via Dutch to Bavaria to Italy to DKB. The likelihood of restoring relations is unlikely at this time. We are leery of the Dutch. They always seem to feel the need to get involved in everyone else's business, their allies always seem to bare the brunt of the military losses and the short end of any gains, and they seem to favor dirty pool over fair play.

France elected to  cop out, no use to upset "Joe taxpayer" with a war.  Unfortunatly, it got  about everybody and his mum in law at war with the unbeatable New Swiss.

The Kra Canal "revival" all started here.
With some extra information.
Completed in this topic, specific for that war.
