Then where are the submerged torpedoes situated?

2 on each beam, 1 fore and 1 aft. The 5th isn't 'really' submerged per se, but it's below deck level in the bow just above the deep load waterline.

Underarmed? 8x15" is underarmed? As to speed, she's the "QE" to my fleet. The first step towards increasing the battleline speed. I gotta start somewhere. 28-30knots is NOT BB territory, it's BC territory. I don't like 'blended' designs...they're either huge or missing something. Just as QE was 24kts while the rest of the RN was 21kts, these are 26kts while the HSF is 23kts.
Building up a 26kts DKB battleline would take long time (20 years?), most probably they'd be used either with the old slow battleline, or in small groups of fast ships. In the latter case, 26kts would slow the rest down.

Quote"Where are the shell handling rooms for the secondaries?"
Probably the same place they were on KGV and the US WWII BBs with similar 2nd layout, or the same place they would be for that matter if these were all casemates on deck level, under them.
I was going to suggest a short upper belt to armor the shell handling rooms, but you did so in the revised design.

How would the 40,000t version look like?
The first purpose of a warship is to remain afloat. Anon.
Below 40 degrees, there is no law. Below 50 degrees, there is no God. sailor's maxim on weather in the Southern seas

40,000t version would look over treaty limits, and since DKB was one of the big 'pushers' for the RNT I don't think I'll be cheating on the 1st ship drawn up after.

How would a 27kt version w/ slightly less armor on non-vital areas work?

The 2 following ships could be considered a step back as the drop the heavy 130mm secondary for a more standard 150mm battery. It's the big debate between lots of smaller guns and fewer heavier guns for anti-DD work. The previous design with it's 6 twin 130mm mounts is viewed by some in the Admiralstab as to 'new' of a layout as the mounts are untested and they would prefer them to see service on zerstörers before turning over the entire anti-DD battery on capital ships to them. Therefore these revert to casemates as previous in service vessels.

Casemates are an odd way to go in the face of modern trends, but the ships are solid.

QuoteThe previous design with it's 6 twin 130mm mounts is viewed by some in the Admiralstab as to 'new' of a layout as the mounts are untested and they would prefer them to see service on zerstörers before turning over the entire anti-DD battery on capital ships to them. Therefore these revert to casemates as previous in service vessels.

Another alternative. This one is so far in front. The quarterdeck is dropped one deck to help offset the extra weight of the additional MB turret.

yes - very nice and 10 x 15 inch is a good hefty punch  8)

- but concerned about blast effect from the Main armament onto the main deck secondaries esp. at fine angles - should they be turret  - or some other way to protect?

- how big would a 28 knot version Fast BB need to be  :D
