Official New Switzerland Announcement

Due to threats from the Italian Government, New Switzerland is instituting a 12 mile exclusion zone around its warships. Any ship or aircraft from a neutral nation entering said zone should clearly identify itself. Ships not identifying themselves will be treated as hostile and dealt with accordingly. Any submarine operating near Swiss warships is to surface and display its colors, any submarine remaining submerged will be considered hostile and dealt with accordingly.

New Switzerland does not recognize the Italian blockade of New Zion. A blockade must be effective in order to be legal. A convoy of Swiss ships will be headed towards the Zionite port of Tel Aviv. Any attempt by Italian forces to stop or interfere with them on the high seas will be seen as an act of piracy and dealt with accordingly.

But because new Swiss expects that blockade not to be effective, it will send a convoy of ships. But if the blockade is effective, what they don't expect, it will be cause for a declaration of war.

An interdicted convoy will indicate an effective blockade.
If the Swiss do not recognize it as such, they risk MASSIVE international disapproval.

Depends on where the Italians intercept the convoy, NS only recognizes close blockades. And that's only if I actually intend to force the blockade. Could be just a ploy to help out the Zionites...

Define 'close'- or rather, where is 'close' defined in international law.
If the blockade works, it is effective.
Also, given the Rift's geography and NZ's position on the African continent, well... I think anything within the rift would be 'close.'
