Uhm... because of the 1917 Naval propulsion tech perhaps?

Quote1917: Engine year 1920, Max. non-VTE power 40,000 HP/Shaft, Engine year = year laid down.

a small bit of research indicates that the NS dont/wont have said tech in 1920.  Hence they should have 1916 turbines.

Quite right. Was looking at the reports as well. Odd thing is that accuring to the Swiss Naval Technology thread, the 1917 tech is being researched, yet in none of the 1917, 1918 or 1919 reports it is indicated that this is actually being done.

Are there any "Secret" research listed? I'd guess there is, but since 'secret' makes it a 2x tech it will be, assuming he started in 1HY/1917, 1921 (8HY 20% roll) before they'd be available.

In theory the secret techs should be in the reports. Maybe camouflaged as something else, but as far as I know, no secret tech concerning engines.

Valles

I have no objection to the New Swiss laying down and building ships whose engine plants exceed the limits of their technology.

Since, obviously, those engines wouldn't work, failing to deliver the designed power and suffering ongoing reliability nightmares, only to be ultimately solved by refitting with the proper tech.

Unless someone is going to trade him the tech, but only Rohan can do that...

My point, Walter.I was just wondering why things didn't match up.

Wouldn't be the first time the Swiss used unreliable engines in a capital ship.

Desertfox

You can't find them, cause I'm not researching them. I'm getting them from someone.

Only Rohan has those engines.
Last I checked, they didn't sell to the Swiss.
