It's the queen...

That's like telling the President, "No, you may not look at the updated OOB for 2010"

And did I say I was going to do that battleyacht? It was a possibility. A possibility I can't use for two years, as I need next generation engines and new guns.

Desertfox

They let her be Queen? Ouch...

The Swiss do that all the time. Even the Chief of the Navy doesn't know exactly how many ships he has. And that's for Navy ships, once you add Army, SSS, Privateers, Pirates, and Armed Merchants, well its a mess.

See, this is why my QueenEmpress, Princess, all three are in use is better different then the Swiss.
And, for the full story. She took over in a form of bloodless coup d'ete when her brother, the king, got vaporized. Now, we can always blame the Swiss for setting off the Varna stockpile in the first place.... She got away with it because the press and people were too focused on what happened at Varna...and now that she's consiliated power, nothing can force her off the throne.

The Rock Doctor

Wasn't she next in line for the throne anyway?

Probably, plus she's 18 so she's an 'adult'. I don't think there would have been much issue w/ her taking the throne.

"Your Majesty? Can I have a moment of your time?" asked Arthur V?itoianu, the Minister of Defense, holding out a sheet of paper.

"Can it wait a minute, while I finish dealing with these plans for African conveys?" asked the Princess. When Vaitoianu shook his head horizontally, the Princess carefully took the sheet of paper from him, and read it to herself. As she read it, she began to go a tad bit red in the face.

"Send in a request for the maps," she said, grimacing, "and if a single Romanian merchant ship or warship is damaged in any way, we are at war."

Considering such an event might mean the loss of a third of the Romanian merchant marine it would be a calamity indeed. It might make sense for the Princess to simply forbid Romanian merchants from transiting the rift sea to avoid such a blow to the Romanian shipping industry.

But how else would they get their oil to New Zion or Colombian Montana?

Well, here we go....Today, Romania has 66 vessels registered in the merchant marine. N-verse Romania also includes Bulgaria, for some reason, which has an additional 40 vessels. N-verse Romania also includes Moldova, which has 22 vessels in their merchant marine. Total, 128....not a insignificant number.

Ok, just needed to get that out....

But that's TODAY..figure ~30% maybe in 1919. So 38 ships.

I'd figure about the same, just smaller vessels, so instead of the 25,000 ton cargo ships we see today, I'd assume about 8,000 tons as the average.

Desertfox

Actually they'd be closer to 500 tons, and double the number. Thought the actual number of ships that have the range to get themselves sunk can be counted in one hand...

I'd doubt that....I put a major investment into building tankers to supply China, and Orange, and New Zion, and Italy, and etc...tankers have the range, duh :P
