Apparently no change in baseless Swiss overconfidence in their special* forces.

It would take 3 and one of them would be an open decleration of war on Rohan... not to mention damaging yourself

and in that situation you might need a fourth to deter Gran Columbia from allowing them to use their canal to eliminate the threat posed by the insane leadership of the NS.

All it takes is the right words and the right time (or wrong word at the wrong time)...or an incident, to break an alliance.

Unfortunately, the Swiss tend to be the ones to make incidents and wrong words at the wrong time to break their own alliances.  There was a time when the Swiss had a semi-decent alliance and non-aggression treaties in the Pacific and some mutual trust going around the Rim.   Then the wrong things happening at the wrong time lead to the Swiss we know (do we know them) today.  A nation I imagine few trust if things are still as they were after the First Dutch-Swiss War.

The New Swiss started working their way out of their diplomatic hole elected what appeared to be a stable Benelovent Monarchy.   And for a few years all was well....

But now the Red Flag flys over Phoenix.... ;) ;D :o

Nah, just one. GC won't be much inclined to help Nassau, and Rohan can be convinced to be a good guy and close the canal to ALL belligerents. But anyway as far as breaking alliances, well poisoning the elected leader of your ally doesn't really help... It was the Dutch and Germans who caused the end of the Triple Alliance, after I was brutally attacked without warning by the Dragon.

Hey! It's not a red flag! (yet...) It's a black flag! ;D

I know what you mean DF, but I can in name of Glorious France tell you that "France" did not poison the President of the Confederated States of America.

Also, Prove it.

And now I'd rather be chummy with the Swiss then the Dutch. Weird ain't it? Of course with all this 'revolution' so near to home (What is it? 200nm across the strait from DKB to Australia?) we're not amused w/ the Swiss either.

QuoteIt was the Dutch and Germans who caused the end of the Triple Alliance
Looking back at things, it was no doubt the Dutch who were responsible for that, being evil enough to trick the Germans with lies so they abandoned their ally as well.

Seems very obvious to me. :)

QuoteTrue, but I suppose one can live with it as long as they do not do anything stupid toward you.

Hey! It's not a revolution, it's just elections year!  ;D The Swiss take their elections very seriously, none of that ballot stuffing/bribery that goes on elsewhere.

Yes but its the Executions and Assassination of opposition party leaders and supporters...  Military commanders breaking their sworn oaths to back their political party of choice oh and the Gun and Artillary Fire in the streets of the Capitol and other cities..  So we can look forward to another Election in what 4 Years...  [/sarcasm]

Drawing (narrowly) back on target- and in preparation for the arrival of the imminent regime change in the Confederacy (after Wilson's DISASTROUS administration)- another toy... this one confirmed as to be built in it's current form. Sure, the seakeeping looks bad- until you realize that a fast minelayer wouldn't be working in high seas in the first place. She's got more than enough fire power to keep a destroyer or two at bay (and enough armor to live to tell the tale) while she has enough speed to get away from most larger vessels. A pair of these ships are planned for 1919, and perhaps more later on.

Possible uses include:
1.) making trouble for old un-friends
2.) making trouble to create new enemies
3.) spicing up war zones where our allies are fighting

She carries plenty of mines- 200 in all- because she lacks centralized fire control for her 75-pounders. As she wasn't intended to fight long-distance gun duels, it was judged an unnecessary expense in both weight and money. ;) The remaining 18 tons includes 3 tons for a large whaleboat & crane and a long-range Marconi (15t + the 10t 'free' set = 1 long-range set).
