I liked those. I also like your proposals for a "scout battleship". They were more reasonable than a flat out battlecruiser, and faster than a normal battleship.

Guinness

If these are the sorts of prices such a ship could go for, the Ottomans might consider unloading two modern 25 knot BCs themselves...

TexanCowboy

Yes, but, sadly, the Southern Cross would not bid.

the whole idea behind the scout BB was basicly to build German BCs =P

But with tripple's, right? Nonetheless, I really like those, in the same way I think that German battlecruisers were the best kind in existance.

Remember the Ottomans got 2 (1 sunk) of their BBs from NUS.

Yes...one of the worst battleships of their time. 12''L35? That's horrendeus. And, frankly, Guinness, the Ottomans need those. They and the German-style BB's are the best ships they have.

Guinness

The Ottomans are seriously considering moving to an all torpedoes and mines navy which is heavy on submarines and backed by large coast defense guns... They have little to no reason to project power, and one lesson that might be learned from the battle of Crete is that their likely prospective enemies will always outnumber them in capital ships and will tend to try to bring the battle to the Ottomans. So laying subs and mines in their path, and backing those up with light torpedo craft attacking by night seems a sensible strategy.

There might still be room for trade warfare ships to tie up some of the enemy's numbers, but those would be exceptions to the general strategy.

QuoteItalian built, armed in NUS at Puerto Militar with NUS weapons except 12"/35 MB.

Actually...the Italian's supplied the main guns.

Why did we use the 12/35 on them? period Italian ships had 12/45s on them...
