Technological regression:

1897-1898 modern vessels
1895-1896 lose torpedo carriages (fixed tubes only)
1893-1894  lose advanced gun type - down to 12 inch or less.
1891-1892 lose advanced turret layout (A and Y only)
1889-1890 lose Destroyer guns (save machine guns)
1887-1888 lose torpedoes (no torpedo boats at all)
1885-1886 lose advanced secondary gun layout (casemates only)
1883-1884 Reduced primary battery type - 11 inch or less.
1881-1882 Reduced to single mount main batteries
1879-1880 Reduced primary battery type - 10 inch or less.
1877-1878 Reduced Armor to Compound armor
1875-1876 Big Gun Quality reduced.....First Rohirrim Battleship/Armored Cruiser laid down in 1875....first ship refitted in 1886 with modern guns, but retired from service in 1896 when the Theoden was commissioned.
1874 Ironclads before this time.

Most if not all pre-1883 vessels have been scrapped or converted to hulks.  There may be exceptions.
(Battleships 1881 and 1882 may still be around, perhaps sold to California as coastal defense ships after a refit.  These mounted single gun turrets with 11 inch guns.  Battleships 1883 and 1884 may join them in a year or three.)
(Battleship/Armored Cruisers 1877-1880 were all armed with 9 inch guns)
(Battleship/Armored Cruiser 1875-1876 were early 9 inch rifles in turrets and some 15 inch smoothbores on the broadside).
