Personaly I thought ya shoulda kept em but what the hell, if your going to sell sell as high as you can (but it dosnt hurt to remember which governments are inclined toward the NS)

But enough on that topic back to NS Ships ^.^

the Heavy Cruiser is a nice design - but i do wonder about need for 9", 6" and 4" - on a 600' Cruiser - seems a bit crowded and ?unnecessary - would a unified secondary battery - 6" or say 5.5" be better ...

Desertfox

That was a carry over from my Armored Cruisers, which had 9", 6" and 4". Here is an alternate version with less armor and no 6" secondaries. Question is, is the loss of both worth the 3,700 tons saved by going with this design?

I'm going to go with the cheaper Phoenix design, I can use the 7,000 saved tons.

These got delayed a couple of years, so they could get better engines. Costs me 200 tons more per ship, but the extra 2 knots should keep these up to date. They also get diesel generators, allowing silent operations without needing to use the steam turbines.

TBH DF Having drawn my 1601 class DDs I think the Kidds are going to suffer heavily from NEDS.  there will barely be enough space for the 4" guns (the 1601 class has 5X4.5" and is only 6' shorter).  So honestly I dont see where you would mount the 1.57s since the 1601s are almost NEDS (I originaly wanted to mount 2 pair of 1.5" guns on them but when I started drawing them I realised there just wasnt Room)

I think all that stuff could fit, but DD's tend to have their armament a lot closer to the ends. So forecastle and quarterdeck probably need to be a lot shorter, something like 10% each.

The propulsion system: I don't know for sure, but having stood close to a decently sized diesel (~800 ihp) while it's running, that thing ain't quiet. In fact, I bet steam turbines might be quieter.

Desertfox

The US 4-pipers had 4x4", 1x3", and 12x21" TT on 315ft. The 40mm's would not be on the centerline but on the sides.

i really like the revised Hvy Cruiser (though a bit low on steadiness)  - pity if will not be built - but i think 10 x 6" or similar pack more punch than 20 x 4"

the DD - agree looks fine to fit in

Desertfox

New Switzerland NEEDS some more subs.  ;D

On subs and MTBs I think it's useful to list which tech year this ship is to built to.

That's the 1910 next to the ship's class. ;-)
