I like the design in broad terms, but:

-You oughta have three or four shafts for a ship of that size.

-How're you determining the height and length of your upper belt?

Sachmle

#2
Changing it to 4 shafts doesn't change the SS, so no problem there.

As to the upper belt the height is determined by the distance from the weather deck to the top of the main belt. Since the weather deck is 7.5m and the top of the main belt is 2.5m above the waterline that leaves 5m between the two. As to length it's supposed to be the same length as from the end of the forecastle to the start of the quarterdeck, which in this case is actually only 71m, so I'll have to revise that. I must not have changed it from the last design. Math on that is as follows:

Waterline length 203m, forecastle is 25% or 50.75m. Mid break is at 60% or 121.8m. Subtract 50.75m from 121.8m = 71.05m which is the length of the 'citadel' area excluding the aft turrets. I suppose the extra 26m could be considered to cover the 2.5m from the main belt to the weather deck on the quarterdeck area as that is 30m long, so there would be 4m at the aft end w/o upper belt. Since that's too far aft I could say it's shifted so it's hanging over the main belt forward and aft, probably 13m each way.

Once I've done the drawing I'll adjust the upper belt to fit the picture.

An excellent, and very dangerous, combatant. She'd annihilate most of my fleet with ease, and could outmaneuver Cross Mirage with no trouble.

I'm hoping a torpedo swarm will do her in as my battlecruisers haven't been laid down yet :-\

Very nice ship overall. A bit on the heavy side (tonnage) though.

TexanCowboy

Then you don't want to see whats being laid down in Japan for me.

maddox

Her armor is at least 25% better than the closest French ship, Occitanie.  Her speed is equaly better.  But her broadside is a lot lighter.

I don't want to meet her one on one in a slugfest.  Maybe that a modernised DeCreme will keep her ground, even slower than this DKB ship

I'd plop 4x4x35cm on that ship :)

1) We don't do QUADS (eck!)
2) That would be REALLY heavy. She's already huge.

Walter, if you say anything about the Texas....

IDK, I consider it an act of good faith to post a ship before you start construction on it, and as Walter will have to declare the size of ships under construction atleast everyone will have a fairly good idea what it looks like when he posts his H218 report.  Ofcourse if you dont want more experianced eyes to look at it and tell you the mistakes you made, well thats your decision.  If I had to speculate though Texas would be around 36K tons, 8-10X13.5-15" Proly around a 12" belt 3" deck and hits 26+ knots.  Course I could be compleatly wrong to...
