The Kingdom of Egypt needs to renew his fleet of cruisers. Our conditions are the following ones :

- Max of 4500 tons of light displacement
- the ship can use drydock of Type 1
- main guns in twin turrets, at least 127 mm
- at least 28 knots

The winner of the contest can hope to sell to Egypt from four to six ships. These ships will be used in Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea.
The only difference, between the balls of July 14th and the French Revolution, it is the size of firecrackers and the direction towards which we launch them.

Twin turrets is a tall order, and not seen in 5" versions as far as I know.

Still very difficult. The designs I'm working on have awful seakeeping with turrets.

Sachmle

Turrets for single 5" guns is pointless, mounts is fine.

Very rough and quick try (I have no capacity to build them anyway).
It has turrets and I could build them (at least the turrets, I don't think I have the necessary cruiser tech tough).
But take a look... they are not advisable:

Freeboard was designed for 1.2 at 30 knots but the ship was too small for that.

TexanCowboy

Very Unadvisible. That is basically a smaller, slower, San Diego class. Isn't that getting a little ahead of ourselves?

Logi

Yup, unadvisable.

No point to the turrets at this point in time. Not to mention...
QuoteMain belt does not fully cover magazines and engineering spaces

Armour is not enough, already too many AA guns, and the armament is too light.

The armor and armament might be enough for a DD, but not a cruiser of this size.

TexanCowboy

Well, depends on the armerment, not the turrets. If he wants a ship that can outrun torpedoes, go for it.

Maybe something like this? I think 28 knots is costing us quite a bit here too. 27 probably would work better...

The Egyptians already have a lot of Confederate hardware too.

If the cruiser can transport some mines, it's a good point, but it's not obligatory. Depth charges too. There's no more submarines in the Middle East.
The only difference, between the balls of July 14th and the French Revolution, it is the size of firecrackers and the direction towards which we launch them.
