The Rock Doctor

He's making me spend military funds and BP - I'm extorting him out of a heap of his civilian budget.

So two twins forward, one amidships, one aft?  Let me tinker.  I expect the additional turret mass will cause some slippage somewhere.

The Rock Doctor

Modified.  I'm tinkering with my older Invencible to see what a radical reconstruction would cost as an alternative.

The Rock Doctor

Alright, this is reconstructed Invencible.

A fourth turret is added aft, superfiring, between the two existing turrets.  Main battery is replaced with 305/45cal guns (currently 40cal).  Lesser armament is replaced - one set of hull casemates aft is crowded out by the new turret, but sixteen secondaries can still be shipped by using two of the old 100mm positions in the forward superstructure.

Bulges added.

Oil firing, higher speed.  More miscellaneous weight to allow fire control.

No alteration to armor - the height of the belt of this ship remains a deficiency to me.

Estimated cost:  ~$12 and ~5.6 BP for me, plus costs for refitting to Romanian standard.  It would certainly cost you less, but I can't say I have a particular figure in mind at this moment.

It's very fat. Besides that, I'm waiting for more submissions.

It's very fat.

Fat= high stability and steadiness. Better accuracy on your fire and better ability to take punishment from others

A "fat" ship that is very slender, based upon the succesfull Marat/Robbespiere. Her top and cruise speed as well as range is based on the modern French desings.  The Gangut style lay out of the 4 main gun turrets contributed to the inherent stability.

Same "battleship financing" terms as the Gran Colombians.

The contest results will now be annouced.

The French design is the winner. It was the best that could be done out of both the political and military situation.

The Gran Columbian design was judged to have way to have a extremely small belt, endangering the ship as a whole.

The Baltic Confederation designs were liked, but were impossible with the current war with the Netherlands.
