Well, cruisers seems to be in fashion at the moment, so here is something I am thinking about as accompanying sloops for the de Ruyter frigates. She gives up quite a bit of armour to get space for 130 tons of mines. Her armament is fine, but both speed and armour should ideally be better, but that would require a larger ship. :(

I think Speed is Ok - she has plenty of firepower vs. most opponents

I prefere the more balanced fire arcs one get with the tripple forward. If you meant going for eigth guns, then yes, but it would make the ship larger as there really is nothing to save weigth on.

I'd also be tepted to increase Prot'n around the Magazines

If i push her to 9000 ton, I can increase the armour belt to 9cm, and add 25cm heigth.

A ship of this type in Dutch service is either a sloop, so following my in-game naming conventions. If she did not carry mines she would be a frigate.

think the extra armour on the Belt - with 90mm simmed - it could be 100+mm for the Mags and 75mm for Machinery
