Ship-naming practices for the Armada:

Battleships:

Colorful adjectives describing virtuous qualities - bravery, intelligence, etc.

Exception:  Ex-ACM battleship Helene retained her name, but as she is a training vessel, it can be argued that this is a separate category.

Armored Cruisers:

Gran Colombia:  Professions/occupations of a military/adventuring nature -Guerrero, Sentinela, etc.

Island Commonwealth:  somewhat random, historical warship names.

Future Construction:  The Gran Colombian system will continue, with Jamaican-built and -manned vessels have "Norman" (English) names.

Protected Cruisers:

Administrative districts.  Jamaican-built and -manned vessels will tend to be named for districts in the former Island Commonwealth.

Monitors:

Famous army personalities.

Torpedo-Boats:

Gran Colombia:  Cities and Towns.

Island Commonwealth:  Random words with a common first letter.

Future Construction:  Starting with the "J" Class, cities and towns with a common first letter.

Volcanoes.

Patrol Sloops and Cutters:

Prefixes:

Pre-Amalgamation, Island Commonwealth ships were prefixed ICS.  Following Amalgamation, the prefix was modified to JCS, for Jamaican Contingent Ship, reflecting their re-organization as an arm of the Armada.

All other Armada warships are prefixed NGC, or Navio de Gran Colombia.
