Looks good and practical.  Might want to knock 0.69 metres off her, though.

I'm not sure I'd bother with 30 t for mines.  Flag facilities - for station or convoy command - might be a better use of the miscellaneous weight.

Borys

Thanks for pointing out the excess length :)
Yes, a spare 10 small w/t is probably better use of the weight ...

EDIT: Original post now with correct lenght

Much better - now you don't have to bash the bow in with a crow-bar when you drydock her.

...or instal a guillotine in place of the dock gates... :D

Well balanced cruiser.

I tinkered with the design to get a "70" gun platform. Cost me 65 tonnes.
Otherwise identical to the previously posted version.

Nice ship - alhough the project name is... questionable for a catholic monarch's ship ;-)

A prototype heavy cruiser, and a theoretical successor to project VII, a late WW1-design for a large scout for the KuK navy.

Letterstime Admiral Haus will come calling and request the specs :-)

Borys

Glad you like. I think I will use a pyramid, and move it forward.
Something like this:

No floatplanes, naturally, instead three stacks and casemate mounts.

I'd remove the casemate guns and put them on deck, with 2-4 as AA guns. I'd prefer, well placed  fewer secondaries to more in casemates.

There was a late WW1-AA 150 mm gun in a turret for the battlecruiser designs (no idea about its specifications though), so an AA-gun larger than 30mm is not that outrageous.

Now with deck guns and pyramid fore. The Habsburgs have not put two and two together, and did not install BAK (BallonAbwehrKannone) guns used by the Herr on KKK ships. So the automatic "one pounders" are all the AA there is ...

OK - I've made up my mind. The Strudelkopf class will look like the Furutaka class, maybe with less pronounced wavy line of hull.  Here I'm talking about the looks of the original configuration:
http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/ships/battleships-japan/7221/view/ijn_furutaka_1926_cruiser_/

Also, the THREE funnels will be straight, and there will be no catapults. That space will go to boats and the secondaries.

I will post SS datafile from home machine later today.
