With all this talk going on about ultimate battleships I felt New Zion could not be left behind. So here she is:

This is another ship based on Jeftg's great wood models, this time the Kostenko (that what the Russian BB is called?).

Note, four of the six secondary turrets are actualy below the freeboard. Unfortunately, SS2 can not handle such arrangements.

I thought you were just going to post a picture of the Zionite coast with a heavy gun turret every two kilometres or so.

I gotta do something about those men in straw hats, they know too much...

Now if New Zion was located in Madagascar, that would be a very appropriate idea. But Festung Zion is not a ship.

IMHO: 7 inch rounds are probably too heavy to be handled in turrets without hoists. 30 (!) 3" deck mounts will probably result in a cramped deck as well unless some of them are in the blast zones of the main armament.

I'm not familiar with the OTL inspiration, but was this the historical armament?

Mike,  turrets and barbettes include hoists, even entire armored munition lifts.
In this case, 1" armor plating around those .

2nd:   5.00" / 127 mm   1.00" / 25 mm      1.00" / 25 mm

The ship (Kostenko's 1917 BB study):

Note the secondary arrangement. The Zionite ship would be similar but with only 2 main turrets.

Actualy, it seems if you want to sim this vessel, you'll have to reduce freeboard, and raise the 3 main turrets.

But alas, again, a quirk in Springsharp...

I read it and thought deck mounts. Mea culpa. I've got to quit posting when I have a 19 month old screaming at me :)
