Get protection up to that of S&G, and speed to 28kts, as the DKB has three such battlecruisers already, not as if you'd have any SHP limits to consider.

How's this? And the SHP limit for 1916 engine is 40,000/shaft...don't know what you're talking about "No limit" that's 1917: Engine year 1920, unlimited power/shaft

I wonder if she might be behind the curve with 12" guns at this point - most other AC/BC builders are moving up to 13.8 - 15" already.

One suggestion would be to raise the stem enough to get rid of the "Wet Forward" warning - shouldn't take more than a metre, which is barely higher than your main deck height anyway.  It'll require only a slight bit of miscelleneous weight as a trade-off.

Guinness

I agree with Rocky. She's well protected against the next caliber up (at least for a BC), but underarmed for her size. I'd be tempted to either go up a caliber, or at least add a couple of barrels. With 1916 engine tech, maintaining your design speed shouldn't be a big problem, and it probably wouldn't cost you all that much more in displacement.

Borys

A fast, undergunned battleship. Exactly like in OTL ...

IMO such vessles make sense if builty in quantity - if for every giant "frigate" with 4x2x38cm guns, displacing 35K tonnes, the DKB has two such ships. Then the giants can raid DKB communication lines
running the risk of coming across such a division - either MAD, or one defender lost, in return for heavy damage to raider. At the same time such pairs can keep out a better lookut for smaller enemy cruisers.

But I'm wondering if a horde of Moltke's, maybe slightly larger, wouldn't be able to do the same job.

Another solution would be to increase the depicted ship to some 28K, and give it 4x2x35cm guns.

P3D

If the 28kts version of the new battleship is too expensive for ~33-34KT, upgun the ship to 35cm, and have a bit thicker barbette/turret protection.

28K = 28,000 tonnes.
