Neue Brandenburg ship yard, July 13th 1914

Today a large crowd gathered to witness the launching of the new Linienschiffe SMS Neue Nassau. The majestic ship slid down the ways without incident after being christened by the ex-Kaiserin Augusta Viktoria.

Kaiser Friedrich IV was in attendance along with his lovely wife Kaiserin Elizabeth, who strangely was seated the entire time. No patrons nor reporters were permitted within 20m of the Kaiserin raising speculation of illness or injury.

Big news.
Sept 1, 1916 was a Friday, we're not on Speaking terms. Bavaria likely learns late the 4th or early 5th.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Probably faster, telegraph wires and ambassadors are plentyfull.

Glorious France is probably aware from the start, as Ambassador Takeda- DKB ambassador in Paris, a legacy from Swamphen- is a well informed, and well connected individual with friends in places high and low.

Kaiser Kirk

Your diplomats work weekends?
Hmph, no wonder the French are masters of Diplomacy.

September 1 0000 hours in DKB, is August 31 late afternoon in Paris.(and Amsterdam/Den Hague).

And if an ambassador recieves a declaration of war, or the information about that, I doubt he'll let the weekend interfere.  Translations, maybe, criminal/propaganda intent, why not?

The Republic of Gran Colombia acknowledges the declaration of war issued by the DKB.

In light of the new potential for conflict in Africa, the Republic of Gran Colombia believes it necessary to remind the parties that Gran Colombia will be taking possession of the Kongo on January 1, 1917.  It is expected that the Kongo will be in a pristine and peaceful state at this time.

Acts threatening the completion of the Kongo transaction on these terms, committed by any party, will be interpreted as acts of aggression against the Republic of Gran Colombia.

Please contact the Gran Colombian embassy for clarification if required.

GENERAL NOTICE

As such as the Reich has received no answer from Karlstadt for the safety of our crews we are forced to presume ANY Confederate* vessel East of the Chagros Islands chain or west of Neue Guinea to be belligerent and take appropriate actions. It is most unfortunate that it has to come to this, but we can not risk a vessel flying the Confederate pennant but acting under Dutch order to inflict losses on the Kaiserliche Marine. This is not a declaration of war against the East Sea Confederation. Merely and act of self preservation.

Erich Hermann von Lindenhoff
Reich Foreign Ministry.

*Once again for clarity DKB calls ESC "Confederates" and CSA "Americans"

September 29, 1916

Today Kaiser Friedrich IV presented the Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse (Knights Cross 1st Class) posthumously to Korvettenkapitän Bernard Göebrich. Göebrich was the commanding officer on the Großestorpedobooten T-154 which, even when faced with the combined fire of 3 Dutch Frigates, still pressed home his torpedo attack scoring 2 hits on the Dutch Frigate Ihbir Nis at the Battle of the Banda Sea. Korvettenkapitän Göebrich's widow and son accepted the award on his behalf. As a note, his son has just been promoted to Oberleutnant zur See and will be going to sea as the gunnery officer on the Kleiner Kruezer Cöln shortly.

NOVEMBER 5th, 1916

Today it was announced that the vaunted Legion Kondor as well as their warship, Sereniteit, are to be absorbed into the national military. The Legion proper will become the Wehrmacht's front line Corps while Sereniteit will be assigned to Goa as a member of the Kaiserliche Marine. When asked how the mercenaries were convinced to become members of the Official military neither Großesadmiral Friedrich von Ingenohl, or Generalfeldmarschall Helmuth Johann Ludwig von Moltke had any comment.

VICTORY!!!

Dutch sign peace treaty ending the war. Siam is liberated and the Dutch have ceded territory to us. What a glorious victory. Now comes time to remember the fallen, rebuild, and learn from our mistakes to prevent war from ever occurring again. Detail are not confirmed as of yet, but rumors have the Dutch Government turning on itself and demanding a peaceful end. Recall orders are being sent to Kaiserliche Marine vessels in Dutch territory as you read this. The war is OVER!!
