On this day, January 9, 1915, the Kingdom of the Maori hereby publishes and declares that a state of war exists between itself and the nation of New Zion. While acknowledging their lack of a direct conflict or causus belli with the Zionists, the Maori owe the Empire of Italia their full and willing support in all things.

While making no confirmation or denial of any conclusion reached about the assassination of Pope Pius X, the Maori do believe that sufficient evidence of the reckless and needlessly aggressive character of the New Zionist nation exists to support the declaration of its status as a rogue state.

New Zion does not recognize the Maorian Decleration of War and asks the Maorian Goverment to reconsider its position. The Maorian Government will be given untill the end of the month to reconsider, without having diplomatic repercussions.

Probably no harm in that - I'm not sure Maoria can physically get to you in that time period.

Plus any army units that do get deployed to Africa will probably die of disease really fast. Uganda after all is the homeplace of Ebola and other nasty bugs... Unfortunately the Italians are not helping in that regard. All those troops moving in that area are sure to cause a few epidemics, and I'm not talking about local ones.

Mwahahaha...

I'm glad you mentioned that.

Good way to discourage help from outside New Zion LOL

Both of my parents are microbiologists. If there is something I know, it's about disease. This war will be nasty, especially with all those Italian troops in close contact. It will be bad for most non-African troops, but even worst for Maorian troops since they are even more isolated.

The three faiths that Muslims call 'The people of the book' make up between them maybe half a percent of the Maori population. They have no stake whatsoever in the life or death of any religious leader outside their own country, nor any interest in the territory or resources of New Zion.

A powerful and expansionist Italian Empire, however, is something they're very much in favor of, particularly if it owes them a favor or two.

And no, Maoria lacks the ability to project any real power in that part of the world before about next December (which I'll be genuinely shocked if NZ manages to survive that long), so it'll be mostly symbolic. On the other hand, their army needed modernizing, their fleet needed a train, and their military mobilization procedures needed a test, so as military operations go, mobilizing for this war is a fairly efficient use of resources.

Be mindful that the Mods don't look kindly on using war economy rules if you're not actually fighting...

If you're willing to allow me to use civilian freighters as fuel bins for a fleet, then I'll send those troops as soon as I have enough sealift on hand.

I'm open to any reasonable plan for operations.

Mobilizing the Economy should only be valid if you have Major operations and a Major enemy.

I don't even think that Italia should get a Mobilized status against New Zion, let alone Iberia, Hapburgers and Maorians. Italy's economy is 5+ times bigger than New Zions. Thats like The Italians fully mobilizing against Ethiopia in our timeline.  ::)

Now if Orange gets involved I can see the reasoning. This is no different than when DF was claiming Mobilized status verses China with no combat going on. Bunch of crap if you ask me.  >:(

One might make the same case about Iberia/Hapsburgers vs. Ottomans, but I'd argue that the Crusaders needed to mobilize as much as they did to earn the result they did.

I have no issues with Italy being mobilized in this case; they are fighting, with a significant proportion of forces either in combat or facing another major power that has rattled sabres.  I don't know what Charles' expectations are, but I personally do not expect this to be a cake-walk for Italy.
