The Rock Doctor

...and so begins development of the French 36" gun.

Logi

OOC

It actually happened in real life, ALOT in China, so I'm not sure I'm following you on the unorthodox part. I'm just not being as extremist as IRL.

But seriously, stop calling the Republic of China a commie gook. I'm following generally what happened in real life with Chiang a bit more in control of his government. Chiang was a salt-makers son. The Republic of China advocates Democratic-Republic with Capitalism. It is so wrong we care about our citizens? If so America must be communist ??? Communist is defined as centrally planned economies and total equal pay for all workers. The state owns everything. I'm advertising the American Dream (poor can make it big) and free enterprise (main trait of Capitalism, total opposite of communism). If a corporation can take to usurp power in the government you know its definitely not communist.

Sorry but I feel all the references to South China as communist is complete and utter bullshit.

Keep in mind that in-character postings can and often are completely different from what the player making the postings is actually thinking about what's going on.

In this case, Galpoux is illustrating his own personal bias against the Chinese in general, as well as his personal ignorance of the true nature of the 1916 Nverse Chinese Republic.

I don't think Maddox meant this post as a personal attack of his own on the way your nation is being run, or even as an indication of his OOC appraisal of events, so it shouldn't be taken that way.

And above all, remember my personal rule number 1: we're all doing this to have fun.

Logi

OOC

I'm not having fun when people call me communist, must be because I'm so strongly capitalist. But ok, I'm just reminding people. I'm sure there are still a few people who actually think South China is communist.

This will become really funny if the Middle Kingdom decides to help defend the Republic of China from foreigners. Not likely but just saying. I'll be really surprised if the Imperials just let foreigners settle and take over the richest part of China.

So, let me get this straight. People are going to war with me, they win and they just leave the land? Yea... not likely.

Sachmle

OK, once again to reiterate:
DKB is NOT at WAR w/ RRC at this time.
IF I go to WAR, I don't want you rice patties or mountains...or anything to do w/ being closer to MK incase they get antsy. Hankow is enough thank you very much that lady is NUTS (Empress Longyu, not Phoenix).

Not the DKB! I meant the GC and Iberia.

Oh and if you invade me, you'll learn to fear something else as well.

Your wording about greedy westerners and such hit a sensitive spot with the nverse French government.
The communist gook comment is just showing how Premier Galpoux feels over the declaration of War the RCC issued against France.
Also, the way how the RRC portraid itself comes over to France as being communist. What else?

The French wording is a lot worse by the way. Meaning the visual aspects of the female genitalia combined with eye. It's a direct babelfish translation of the English inspired derigatory term.

It has to do with the goverment of the RRC, not with the young guy, and navalism player Logi.
If you feel insulted. My sincere appolegies as Maddox. But my writing wasn't targetting you as a human. Also, remember I know only what you told me. For the same amount of trouble you're a thoroughly capitalist expat from Vietnam.

But Phoenix and me have seen this earlier. In LARP weekends some people can't separate irl and gameplay antagonism.
Please, if you react on Out Of Character comments this way, you're right. But In Character , you'll have to distance the comments on the forum from your real live personality. if the RRC spies learn of galpoux's outburst, the RRC or the people you represent, can react on it, in any way they please. PS ,You'll notice that France isn't declaring war against the RRC.

Early August 1916, Paris

The French PM was reading a memo from the French Ambassador in Vienna. He was not surprised at the contents, although he had hoped for a different reaction ...
" ... the reaction of all influential Austrians I have bounced off this idea - and I must emphasise, Your Excellence, that all have the Emperor's ear to some degree - was practically unanimous. The reaction can be summed up as "a shrug". The more verbose - or polite - higher ups pointed out that, "the Habsburgs had pulled out from the Indian Ocean and the Pacfic not so long ago, the underlying reason being to avoid "another Namibia"*. Nothing had changed in this regard - the Habsburgs are still too weak to support a presence in that area against strong local opposition, hence being totally reliant on a heterogenous - and thus shaky - mix of Allies. Additionally, a Austro-Hungarian base in south Siam is due to make the Nederlands "excited", to say the least. Habsburg presence along the abandoned Kra Kanal - even without intentions to ressurect the project, would add further tension to the strained relations with the Gov't at den Haag.
To conclude, Your Excellence, at present the Habsburgs are not include to become seriously involved in South East Asia.

August 10 1917.

JAC airbase Gravelines.

Men, your basic training is finished, and now we're up to start on working for our munificent pay.
The General staff has given me orders. Our airforce will start patroling the Channel and will work together with the navy in this. A scedule of patrols will be worked out. But 1 thing will appeal to you all, a real task, quantifiable and rewarding. Part of the patrols is observation, and the crew bringing in the most aireal gathered information will get an all payed weekend in Paris as reward. The General staff orders us to gather visual information on the ships passing the Channel

The crews all smile.

Any questions?

A hand rises.

Yes?

Is there any deadline set on this task, and is it possible to rack up more flight time in order to fullfill this mission?

That should be in the planning, and the reward is in the amount of informating compared to flight time.

Are there restrictions?

Yes of course, don't crash into anything. But if a crash is unavoidable, yes Louis, I mean you too,  try to avoid diplomatical incidents.
Oh, and I want to know what size and amount of rivets are used on our northern neighbors ships.

August 5 , 2 am. Galerie des Glaces, Versailles Palace.
Premier Galpoux's birthday party was in full swing, and the atmosphere awash with pheromones.

Kiattikhun ,the Siamese Ambasador, and Jean, French premier, together pleasantly engaging one of the many serving girls in pure French style are having a great time.
But alas, dark clouds gather and an uniformed aide weaves trough the deeply involved party. More or less in a straight line to Kiattikhun.

Monsieur l'ambassadeur, message urgente pour vous.

Can't you see I'm busy. I'll read it later, just put it on my desk.

Monsieur, it is important. Trés importante. Of uttermost urgency, first word  Nanzhao.

wide-eyed reading the telegram.
Whoa, the Dutch declare war, and started it already, mining the Siamese waters. Spurious accusations as base for this. I'm directed to ask, you,  France for support.
meanwhile disengaging ,and gathering his silk clothes.

Whoa indeed, but no need to rush, another 15 minutes won't change the outcome, but will relax you, giving a better state of mind .

Premier Galpoux, I'm returning to the embassy, and ask now for an appointment as soon as possible. You can see it's urgent.

Oh well, I expect a lot of aides running in between now and 10 minutes, beter to cut it short and get it over with.

On cue, several young men all carrying messages enter the large ballroom. One making a beeline to Premier Galpoux.
A Dutch socialite is also getting a message.

Ambassador Takeda from the DKB is observing all the activety with interest, even if his lap is covered with a carpet of silken blonde hair. .

After a quick read
Ambassador, it seems the situation is so that Siam is ruined, as well as my birthday party. Those Dutch can pick the moment very well.
both men are getting dressed, the young lady just wanders off.

Would France be supporting Siam against this utterly Imperialistic Dutch Move?

Even if I could say yes or no right now, I wouldn't. I need to consult my ministers and advisors.

Premier, you're the most powerful man in the world, and you can't pledge any help to a tiny country? What is this world coming to?
(loud enough to be heared along the room, even with all the moans and grunts combined with the muzak of a chamber orchestra)

Ambassador, such public outburst won't help your case. But aiding Siam would mean war in Europe, and that cannot be. And that's final. We'll discus this matter in private, with minister Lebrun and other advisors. We'll pass by docteur Le Compte for an anti fatigue medicine. It's going to be a long night it seems.

Desertfox

That's what the Siamese get for not helping an ally when it could have made a difference and for placing their thrust on the unthrustworty French. Thought, I have a feeling this is going to hurt the French alot more than the Siamese.

Honestly, how? The French has about zero interest East of Ceylon and West of the Darien canal (I am ignoring Polynesia here). The canal would benefit only those who'd need access to the South China Sea from the Indian Ocean - in case they are at war with the Netherlands. The only such nation is the DKB.

Iberia is also another nation that would find the canal handy; but has other choices in that it can use the  pacific route from S. America.
