Indeed.  Now, who's going to shadow the Confederates?

Sachmle

Isn't it enlightening to see what others do in response to a "friendly visit" from another nations capital ship?  Such Good Will and trust abounds, it's truly a sight to behold.  ;D

Well, the French posting is for 22 December.  Bear in mind there's a limited amount of news being posted right now - we're probably about done for 1910.  I know I am.

Sachmle

Well yeah, I know it's 1911, I just didn't realize it was getting so late in the year. These backwards seasons down here are confusing me..Snow in July, warm in November, weird.

The french one was for December 1910, not 1911...

Yes - 22 December 1910.  The news is lagging behind the sim reports.

So much fuzz about a poor and lonely ship on the big ocean on a diplomatic voyage :D ;D ;D

Early 1912,

At last, we can leave New Rhun, the paperwork is in order, Minister Capet kept word, and he arranged that we can emmigrate to Rawson, were  living space is made available for us.
The Naciones Unidas de Suramerica are very accepting.

It took enough time and bribes I dare to say, Tentatochl, but all for the good cause.

Not bribes, but just fees and taxes. We also had to aquire the services of the great ship, the Liner Aphrodite. She has an history important to us.

The Ottoman Ambassador in Paris has requested a hearing for the assembled parliament.

His request was approved.

QuoteHonourable Stewards of the French State,

I stand here today with a request. Not just a request that is about money or power, but a request about humanity, about Brotherhood and the Right to Live and Prosper in Peace. The request is about children. The ones that will not be killed by zealous thugs, but the ones that will one day enhance humanity with their work, their genius, their potential. No doubt many members amongst this August Congress are parents themselves, or even rejoicing in the happy laughter of one's childrens' children. Such scenes of joy and blissful domestic tranquility are not to be shattered by greed and envy, hatred and wanton destruction.
It is for that purpose, for the avoidance of such pain, that I stand here and humbly beseech you not to ratify the sale of the ships-of-war of the Republique Class to any party that is involved in a raging war. A zealous bigotted war, a war that denies Peace to Humanity because in a war of religion nobody can win. You know that so well. Your illistrous ancestors did away with the religion thing, having experienced the bloodlust and abuse of misguided overzealous men, who were enriching themselves in the name of their God. You chased the institution that is called The Church from the Wellspring of Power, yet you would now place weapons in the hands of men who profess to serve this institution of greed and lust for worldly power ?
Oh, I may hear whispers that here speaks a man of a religion himself. I cannot deny that I am a humble servant of God, but I serve not an institution that craves power, I serve no priest, no bisshop, no pope. I serve only the Almighty and this relationship is between Him and me alone.
I must admit that we Ottomans too have placed a bid for these vessels of bloodshed. But this was a desperate attempt to avoid them falling into the hands of those who wish to inflict evil and hurt upon the world. We were afraid of the consequences, we still are. The heart trembles at the thought. The mind shudders at the images the possibility raises. And thus we seek your mercy.
Mercy for the children, that stand at the beginning of a fruitful life. Mercy for the mothers, who do not wish to send off a son to a certain death. Mercy for the fathers, who want to grow old with beloved grandchildren surrounding them. Mercy for the land, which should not be torn asunder by hideous blasts and horrendous weaponry.
Yours is a nation that shines like a beacon in the Night of Ignorance. Yours is a creed that rings like a glorious bell in the House of War: Freedom, Equality, Brotherhood.
But if the ships of war are handed over to those who seek war, then I fear nothing much will be left of the Freedom. Or the Equality. Or the Brotherhood.
War begets only grief. He who thinks to make a profit out of it will reap only tears. But the Peacemaker shall be blessed, and will thrive.

The Frech Office of the Green Cross received an interesting message from the Habsburg Goverment:

Well known for it's humanitarian actions, the Habsburg Empire has gratiously granted adobe to opressed Mezoamericans and East Indians. However, the present war could pose a hazard to the passage of Austrian flagged or chartered vessels with those hapless civilians. Would it be possible to move them under the Green Flag?

Very curios. Did the message mean "abode" instead of "adobe"? Adobe, of course, might be a primary building material for the Mezoamericans, making this all the more curious :)

OOC
Bangs head on hard surface - of course that abode not adobe - I must have been thinking of words of Egyptian origin in English - i.e. mudbrick.  I can blame it on EFL :)

I was just imagining the Habsburgs sending shiploads of mud to the Mezoamericans, which gave me a chuckle.
