The Heer

Surrounded by nations that lost territory in 1906, Bavaria has striven to offer little further provocation while maintaining a strong and well equipped army.

The Heer is organized into several Armies, each responsible for a separate section of the border in times of peace and controlling all assets in that sector.  The Armies are overseen by a General Staff which works to lay wartime contingency plans, identify resource allocation needs, train schedules, ensure uniform standards, and other work.

Each Army is commanded by a Generalfeldmarschall or Generaloberst and consists of 2 or more Corps
and the following attached units:
1 Cavalry / Gebirgsjäger Brigade
1 Heavy Artillery Regiment
Communications, Medical, Quartermaster, Transport, Train, Pioneer regiments
Control of Land, Air, Transport and Reserve assets

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Fortifications :

Friuli
Trieste - advanced - 6 citadel fortress
the Citadels stud the hills outside of town, providing overlapping fields of fire.
Trente - advanced - 6 citadel fortress
Located along a mountain pass, several citadel perch on ridges, while others control the valley floor.

Treviso-Jesolo - advanced - fortified line
Treviso-Pederobba - advanced - fortified line
Extending from the Adriatic along the north shore of the Venice lagoon, the line wraps in front of Treviso, then extends west to the rugged foothills, where it returns to the river. Small bridges allow transit across the river to the rear. The fortification, the river, and the next river beyond, constitute 3 lines that would have to be crossed to enter Friuli.

Salzburg
Passau - Cutting Edge - 1 citadel fortress
Located on the north bank, flanked by smaller creeks, this citadel controls the confluence of the Inn and Danube, and blocks upriver passage.

Saxony
Pirna - Cutting Edge - 1 citadel fortress
A historic fortress, this commands the route from Bohemia to Dresden

Silesia
KonigSchutz / Beuthem (Bytom) - Cutting Edge - 1 citadel fortress
In Southeast Silesia, this citadel controls the main rail line from Ukraine and Austrian Galicia, just before it splits into several lines entering Silesia
