Wilhelm was the youngest brother of Frederic JWK von Zeppelin, and the famed Count's uncle. With Frederic in exile, and 2nd brother Ferdinands son Max dying childless in 1897, Wilhelm became heir to the family title. On his death in 1910, he passed both title and company to his son Graf Conrad von Zeppelin
