The Italian Economy

The Italian Economy is driven by Two over riding factors.  Those factors are that the Italian Peninsula has neither coal nor oil in any significant quantity.

The Empire is forced to import coal from its East African Colonies of Burundi [Modern day Mozambique and Tanzania] and from France and Bavaria.  Basically Italy need to import all the coal that presently runs her Industrys.

As oil begins to suplant coal as the driving force of industry first by fueling ships and latter by fueling power plants and industry, again Italia will be faced with the need to import all of its oil from outside sources.   Currently Italia would be purchasing Oil on the open market from the closest sources available.  These sources would be Romania and Russia on the Black Sea, and the Ottoman Empire from it 's Province of Iraq for oil to be delivered to the India Ocean Squadron at Massava and Mogadishu.
