I'm contemplating doing a map of DKB Afrika so I can wrap my head around what is where.  Question for y'all, then:  did we come to the current shape of eastern Africa by simply flooding the Great Rift, or did we slice off the new island and just slide it southeast?

THe Kongo-Zambia border is a bit too far to the north on that map.
It might sound petty, but it feels very strange if the Katanga province capital would be in zambia...

Seems better, still quite abit of katanga to zambia.

I sent you some PM when I made a map (about a year ago) when I was drawing the DKB/Netherlands border on this issue, but got no reply. So I followed the mountain range to establish the border. The intention was to eliminate the 'Katanga strip' (does not contain much of mineral resources),  but apparently I unintentionally put some copper resources on the DKB side. Not a big deal (although still some work) to change it.

Sorry for forgetting that in everything.
Cutting the Katanga step is alright, and i do not care *that* much about the minerals, but i want to keep the capital, so it limits how much can be fixed. But making a quick cut to the south east of Elisabethstad / Lubumbashi should work fine, and eliminate the ugly strip (without major changes to the function of Kongo).

Desertfox and ctwaterman, any suggestion about the borders? Besides the rift the geography is more or less OTL - see topographical maps here:

Perhaps the biggest problem is that both these maps and the world map is 'official', but my map does not have Lake Victoria...

That was always my problem trying to determine what I had in East Africa - and from the world picture I just couldnt get a good picture of it.... oh now to browse the historical maps some more.

Do we have a name for that Island that grew off the African Coast ?????

Anyway - Lake Victoria should be at the top of the Channel you created out of the lakes that lead up to it....
It looks like New Zion consists of Kenya, Uganda, and parts of Ethiopia and Sudan ?????

While My Italian Burundi is made up of Burundi, Tanzania and Im not sure what else ??????
I also borde NZ on the north in Italian Eritrea - Which seems to consist of modern Eritrea and maybe parts of northern ethiopia and maybe some costal sudan.

Anyway I wont really have any complaints about how you care to divy it up.  I mean its not like New Zion is going to like what ever parts I do or dont have... ;D

Hmmm - maybe another Corp or Two.

I intend to get some of this territory named into effective province or something and into one political [Senate appointed] Council Ship zone maybe call it the Consul for Italian East Africa.

Does anyone know the In Game name of the Island off the Coast of Africa.  I am trying to determine which of the two Economic Areas I control are on that Island.

I am taking a guess that the Northern one Someone called Somalia and the Southern purchased from the French I think would be Italian South Africa.  The names of the other two seem to switch over time.   For a while it was Mozambique and latter changed to Burundi.  Heck I think im still confused about what is what.... *kicks maps*

I suggest to call the island Ofir.
As to the Italian holdings:
north of Ofir = Somalia
south of Ofir = Karak-Zorn
on mainland - Burundi

I was thinking Atlantis... But Karak-Zorn really doesnt sound French.... ;D
I dont really have any objections unless someone else does....

I mean I cant be calling it the Former French Colonie of Mozambique now called the Italian South Africa.... it just wouldnt look correct on my letter head.

Ahoj!
Mozambique is on the other side of the Rift - in Orange clutches.
Karak-Zorn is something from another game. As it is OTL south Deutsches Ost Afrika, a more proper name could be Iringa or Morogora or Ruvuma.

I think whomever makes the map gets to name the Island....

But now that I know at least vaguely that Italian Somalila is the Northern 1/3 of Ofir or Atlantis or what ever that my Port of Mogadishu is located there and will know where my ships are on the map when I staition a few of them in that location.
