The minesweeper is too fast :)

The destroyer - how many ways are there of saying "not enough deck space" :)

Unless ...
gun - bridge - stack - two difficult to use wing guns - stack - a pair of TT on each side - mainmast - a pair of TT on each side - gun

Too fast? What's a good speed for a minesweeper?  You pretty much nailed the layout on the DD though.  ;)

Ahoj!
I'd say that 15-16 knots is maximum. But there are supporters of lower speeds out there :), IIRC.

I was hounded to bring down the speed of my miesweepr design, down to 17 knots. But I can defend that speed by the need to "go places", i.e. go selling Peace and Prosperity in the Pacific, for example :)

As to guessing the layout of the destroyer - LOL!
Seems I'm actually learning something :)

Hu? I see no reason why a minesweeper cannot or should not have a decent turn of speed.
It is especially usefull when on escort or patrol missions. I take for granted that the large (over 100 ton) dedicated will do lots of auxiliary duties apart from sweeping mines.

I do not seem to recall that, when was that?

Hounded is a bit too strong word, which I used in jest :)

The Misc weight is 25t W/T, 75t Mines (Yes, I actually put mines on something), and 20t sweeping gear. So the "auxiliary" duties you speak of would actually be minelaying.

Or coastal patrol duties, for which these little ships are exceptionally well suited.
