Baltic confederation.

I think this is a question for the long-timers.
How come this very odd name was selected for the german-scandinavian confederation?
The reason i consider it odd is that it really got nothing to do with the baltics, as all of them belong to Ukarina.

Or should it simply be considred english translation of the "real" name? (Compared to Österreich-Austria)

The Baltic was mostly surrounded by the Confed at the time...so that's what I called it.

The simple reason i think it sound so strange is that "Baltic" in all the Scandinavia languages and German referees exclusively to the Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania region. The sea is the east sea if one translates literary.

A parallel would be to call the UNK "Irish kingdom" as it is situated around the Irish Sea. :)

And this is just curiosity from my side, so I hope no one takes it too serious :)

Baltikum/Baltic countries is usually limited to three "batlic states". However, it can be used in the broad sense, of all countries around the Baltic Sea.

I'm sure you are familiar with the term Dominum Maris Baltici.

Yes, i am, and Karl X lost the sight on that one. :(
But i have never, ever, heard "baltisk" referred to as a country around the east sea except the Baltic States in Swedish, German or Danish.  For a general category for the states around the Baltic Sea I would use "Östersjöstaterna" in Swedish.

"Eastseastates", But english have a tendency to split words. So Östersjön = East sea (baltic sea), staterna = states. Baltic sea states
