The Rock Doctor

Two classes to propose.

The 1909 large torpedo boat (GTB) adds to DKB light forces, and has a potent load of torpedos.  These are carried in two twin carriages amidships, and two single tubes immediately behind the forecastle.

This 1909 kleiner kreuzer is intended for fleet screening duties; she sacrifices some speed and armor for firepower.  Although it can be argued that an all-centreline armament of ~5 guns would be more efficient, the eight gun "broadside" layout has been retained as it allows greater overall firepower against more targets in the general chaos of an enemy torpedo attack.

Think the 1916 Emden for layout...

And my life just gets harder... ^_^

Hm. Compared to my own types, the cruiser is less capable against actual torpedo boats, more dangerous to destroyers. Six to eight knots faster in a calm sea, probably less in a rougher one. No armor. Fairly equivalent, actually, albeit in a very different style. A relatively quick vessel with the firepower to swat them out of the way to let the destroyers through and the armor to survive the role might be called for, but would probably require disproportionate tonnage to pull off with acceptable sea and handling characteristics. All in all, given the practice of carrying 150mm guns on destroyers, existing hardware should deal with it fine, though more will be needed.

The destroyer - pardon, Grossertorpedoboot - is actually more likely to drive the Maori to change something in their own fleet, since there's a way to deal with it that can play to existing strengths. If forced to battle in rough seas its speed and overall effectiveness would be crippled - whereas Maori ships are well able to cope with bad weather. Therefore, attack during typhoon season. ^_^

Due to the different geographical location getting some higher seakeeping on the GTB would be desirable, even on the expense of speed, as the HSF is not confined to the Baltic and the North Sea.

0.7 seakeeping is 'average' at 27kts.

Valles:  Life is struggle, or something like that.  I view the KK as being adequately armored against most torpedoboat/destroyer fire, such as Swiss boats, which don't mount more than about 4".

Maorian TB/DD designs are atypical with the 150mm guns, but unless I'm mistaken, you've not actually built any yet...

Gravol, you forgot the dots? Or are you not talking about gravöl (funeral beer) here?

No, I mean something else - a stock of beer is probably automatically included in DKB designs.

I believe that's what is used in the liquid filled spaces in the TDS. ;D

Why no hoist armour for the centerline 15cm guns?

Otherwise a nice ship, could use some more mines however. ;)

Nice little ship, contemplated something like that for myself. :)

An oversight on the hoist armor.  I'll fix it later - that's what the weight reserve's for.

I figured that these cruisers are likely to be sticking close to large ships that need escort, so no need for mine capability.  I'll leave that to other cruisers.

Glad you approve of the gunboat...

Ahoj!
The Kaiserin Augusta has quite a punch for her size. But I think she's underarmoured.
As her opositon will also pack 6 inchers, I'd recommend a 3 inch belt. Even if you lose a gun or two.
