No, I mean "all forward" in the sense that they're forward (or at) the change in freeboard.

Sachmle

But only the 8 under the superstructure are "forward" of the mid break. Plus, technically the 8 aft aren't in the hull, but on deck.

Quote1 - 5.51" / 140 mm guns in single mounts, 83.72lbs / 37.98kg shells, 1909 Model
    Breech loading gun in casemate mount
    on centreline aft
    1 gun in hull casemate - Limited use in heavy seas
I assume that the logic of this gun is to get a little bit more speed out of the ship. ;D

I have to agree with Sachmle. Remember that the break is in the middle of the ship. That would be between the second and third funnel. That means that the aft 8 140mm guns on the sides are at a significant distance (at least in my eyes) after the break and not in front of them so it should be "side, end fore>=aft". Also, because they're after the break, I would think that those 8 guns are no longer 'hull casemates' but in regular above deck casemates.
If the break was at 70%, then the guns would indeed be all forward.

Precisely... You beat me to it, but I am too lazy to edit my post on that matter. :D

The Rock Doctor

I'll re-sim that way and determine whether it makes a difference to anything...

Walter

Probably not too much as they are a ll in casemates.

SWOOSH
*this is the sound of a hundred eyebrows being raised in Richmond*

The Confederate Navy looks upon this vessel with extreme envy and congratulates the Armada de Gran Colombia on the laydown of what looks to be one of, if not the finest, of the so-called 'battle cruisers' that are being launched lately.
So 'ere's to you, Fuzzy-Wuzzy, at your 'ome in old Baghdad;
You're a pore benighted 'eathen but a first-class fightin' man;
We gives you your certificate, an' if you want it signed
We'll come an' 'ave a romp with you whenever you're inclined.

The Rock Doctor

"Why, thank you", the Armada replies.

Simming the ship different - to tackle the secondary casemates differently - does have some effect on the miscellaneous weight.  So I'll be posting a tweaked design - with a 14 cm upper belt instead of 15 cm - later.

The Rock Doctor

Re-simmed as suggested.  It hiked up the gun armor by around 30 t, and that cost me more miscellaneous weight than I was comfy with, so I dropped the upper belt and casemate face armor slightly - and that let me bump the misc. weight up some instead.

Also had a slightly impact on seakeeping/stability compared to the original.
