Eilginn Ur (Bruma)
Size:5318km2
Population: 155 000 (80 000 Dutch, 60 000 Celtic, 5000 African, 10 000 Asian)
Capital: Port Uilleim (Population 11 000)
Exports: Fish, Sulphur, Teak, Rice, Fruit, Meat, Rubber.

New Eglin is the by far most "Celtic" of the islands in the Flyssen archipelago, and for the first 100 years after it being settled in the mid 17th century it was effectively monolingual in (Scottish) Gaelic.

The island shows the greatest variations in the geography of any of the Flyssen islands. The central highlands rise up to a height of 1500m, but most of them are no higher then 500m. This creates a large difference in rainfall between the eastern and western part of the island.
The western part of the island receive on average between 2200mm and 2500mm of rain, making them very wet indeed. In contrast the eastern part is largely in rain shadow, and only receive a fraction of the rainfall, with a yearly average of  750mm. The third distinct region is the south of the island, which is neither in shadow, not in an area that catches the precipitation, and were the climate is similar to Plana, if slightly less rainy.
The forests that covered the eastern plains have largely been cut down and given place for small-scale farming and ranching. The largest city is located there, were the river Braan meets the sea. Much of the east coast is also dotted with small fishing villages, as there is plenty of good (if shallow) anchorages along the coast. There is also a small but enthusiastic barley production that is used exclusively for malting, giving the island a monopoly on tropical produced real Scottish whisky.
The west of the island is covered with rainforest, and less densely populated, and as much as half the population consist of Asian and African coolies working on the teak and rubber plantations located along the coast. The port city Newport (pop 4500) was given city rights as recently as 1900, but have been the main shipping port for colonial goods from the island, most such good is shipped to Angustad for further processing and export. The city is also connected with railroad to mines in the highlands were large sulphur deposit were found.
The southern areas of the island is still largely covered in forest, and the inland population here is low, forestry is an important industry, and the island have long been an important source of wood for shipbuilding in the archipelago.

New Egail is the name of the island used by the Kingdom.

Somehow, this fails to shock me...

Some general information about the Kingdom administration:
All of the Flyssen islands belong to the region of Triath nan Eilean or Rí Innse Gall, together with the Kingdom owned part of the British isles. The islands were largely populated with emigrants from those areas, as well as from Ireland as emigration was encourage and subsidised to reinforce Kingdom control of the Flyssen islands. It is first in the last 100 years that large scale emigration from the Netherlands have triggered a population explosion on the islands. The still very large Celtic population is partly a result of how the population statistics work, if some one have a parent classified as Celt, so will they be, this mean that all children from Scot-Dutch intermarriage is classified as Celts. This also applies in the rest of the Kingdoms territories, meaning that children with say a Congolese or Indonesian mother and Dutch father automatically becomes citizens (This can result in cases were the only ethnically Dutch component in some colonial Dutch families was a lonely sailor back in 1686).

There are a local parliament located in Angusstad,  it is also the seat of the Royal riaghladair (who have no formal power).

Two Galloglaich divisions from the Celtic crops are also deployed on the islands.

Great to know such stuff!

And whom "riaghladair" might be?

Governor or Supervisor, while no power, he does function like an ombudsman.

I'm divided between Bruma and Neblosa - I'm a cold weather man, and I'd hole up in the mountains :)

Neblosa, on the basis of its active volcanoes and chocolate.  I could take or leave the goats; Val and I are hand-rasing a wee one at this exact moment.

By and large I imagine the island to have a climate that is a cross between the canary islands and Madagascar, as the islands are situated right in the trade winds, and in the tropical climate zone.

Orange Chuvosa

A large number of small islands, abundant in reefs and shipwrecks, with a total land area of around 1500 square kilometers. Total population around 60,000, third of them living in the town of Gulden on the similarly named island. Gulden has some naval facilities, but mainly used as the base for fishing trawlers and whaling vessels. The island to the NW, with the down-to-earth name of Vuurheuvel (lit. fire hill) is an active volcano.
Economic activity is fishing, agriculture and some mining. Trade is also significant, relying on the geographic position of Orange as by far the closest highly developed industrial center close by, providing manufactured goods and buying up agricultural and mineral  products.

I have the feeling that the whole Chuvosa archipelago is a hotbed of smuggling, every fisherman doing it as a second job. Only lip service is paid to tariff regulations, which are  impossible to maintain due to the abundance of fishing crafts under like seven different colors.

Here it might be worth pointing out that most of the major dutch ports (Newport is an exeption) is free ports. :)
