Too extreme rebuilt, comparing the pictures.

You throw out 2 twin 11" barbettes and 4 8" barbettes.
You remove the whole superstructure.
Then you remove the engines.

By here you basically gutted your ship. Now you want to install 2 turrets that are larger at the end. And one in the middle. With more than doubled magazine capacity.
New armament ~2000t, new engines ~1000t. That's already $6 and 3BP.
Extra hull weight 500t, 0.5BP and $0.25, but I'd double it as the rebuild is so drastic that you cannot utilize most of structure (1BP, $0.5).
Reconstruction cost is $2.5 and 1BP, now you are already at $9 and 5BP. Scrap would be around $0.5 and 0.5BP. Do you think it worth it?

Ah, BTW my ship is the faster and the more armored (+800t armor, 20kts vs 18), and would cost half as much.

i know im not sure if its worth it or not LOL thats why i posted it instead of just doing it ^.^

I have another thought for them im playing with atm.  its another not sure its worth it thing, but im playing around with it anyway.  The real reason for moding them at all other than basic refits would be to make them far more capable station ships.  but IDK its one of the not realy worth it ideas i come up with from time to time,  and on these hulls 18 is about it they are just to damn short.

Perhaps just a refit or a rebuild that gives her a more efficeint engine and modern guns.  Then use then as colonial battleships (or home fleet's harbor battleship/training ships) to keep them useful for another ten to twenty years.

that is the other option basic refits, new guns and damn little else.  at 350 ft they are damn usefull station ships, which was their original purpose.

oh also i dont think i can afford to scrap them just yet T.T im still 2 BB light on my goal so meh i may just have to live with them for the time being.

Hello,

I am confused as to the BP costs figured above. The only BP costs I have noticed are the 10% of original displacement for a heavy rebuild/reconstruction. Everything else suggests only $ costs. The way I read it is that the reconstruction above would be at around $9 and 1.0 BP (25% of the original BP cost of 10 BP. What am I missing?

Yes, the cost of the components that you still have to build (BP) and pay for ($).

Hello,

Ok I believe I get it now.
----------------------------------------------
From Selling Ships and Components:

Ship component production cost
Armor steel:
1000t armor cost $1
Guns, Machinery, complete gun mounts (turrets, gun+armor+hoists etc.)
1000t cost $2

-------------------------------------------------------
From Ship Construction and Upkeep :

Refit cost only money (No BP), 20% of ship cost. Any new compoents must be paid separately......

If moving bulkheads and changing the hull is necessary, the cost is 25% in $ and 10% in BP of the original ship, plus the cost of the new components.....

Ship component production cost
Armor steel: 1000t armor cost $1 (unchanged)
Guns, Machinery, complete gun mounts (turrets, gun+armor+hoists etc.), functional misc. weight: 1000t cost $2 (unchanged)
Shipbuilding 'general steel': 1000t cost $0.5........
--------------------------------------------------------
So Ship components cost $0.5-2.0 per 1,000 tons PLUS 1.0 BP per 1,000 tons. Is that how it works? I just need to make sure as BP is not mentioned or implied in either location and I was planning on reconstructing some ships.

Sorry about the layout I don't know how to clip from other posts to make the nice little boxes.

Yes it is. Guess I should clarify it.

Hello,

Thanks for the info, it all makes sense now.
