Paris, Current events with a delay.

Premier Paixhans, minister Dupuytren, minister Seron, monsieur Grange. We got an urgent message from the Mithlond conference.
The Netherlands offered the New Swiss the East indies. For a pittance.

WHAT?
  Merde, putain, mon dieu.

Minister Seron, there is no god.
Agent Bleu, you mention a pittance. Any real numbers?

Yes premier, the amount mentioned is so low, even Firenj could pay it.

Minister Dupuytren, what is your estimation?

I can't even imagine Premier. I need to run this over with the army and the admirality

Monsieur Grange?

Premier, it seems the Dutch are taking a leaf from our book. We're selling liabilities too. And what they do is on a larger scale. I recoment doing nothing at all, just to keep in line with the idea.

Well in response to the Austrian offer the Netherlands will offer the Swiss the following:
1: Immediate armistice, effective until H2/1909.
2: Evangel of all prisoners of war
3: Handover of all Dutch territories in Asia to the Republic of New Switzerland on the 1st of July 1909 in return for $200, paid in instalments of $10 every half year.
This in a non-negotiable offer.

This is due to Dutch beancouters coming to the conclusion that the defence will cost more then it is worth in an environment of backstabbing Austrians, mad Swiss and hostile Iberian

OOC Talk about timing...  Of course Iberia can't respond to this as it walked...  wow...

As a comparison, Orange is Buying Zambia and Malawi (3 million, 3-4IC) for $275.
The realistic Price for Indonesia should be in the high thousands.

I think its called Korpen / Netherlands is bailing on the area.  He sent me a message right after the start of the war to the effect that if it became impossible to hold it he would do something like this so its not totally out of the blue.

OOC:
It should be far from un-expected, as you were not the only one told that, and it was a major reason for austrian and DKB entry into the war.
I was less clear that it would be the effect if they droped out. But to be honest we will see what the japanese or DKB reaction is, it is not fully set in stone yet.

Well, personally I see no possibility that DKB, Japan, Austria and especially the MK would let it go this way, so the chances for peace are diminished.

Well if they sign a peace excluding the Netherlands, that is what they get.

If $17 and the right to interfere in Siam is worth more to the Netherlands than Indonesia and its Allies, so be it.  The new set of fun and games will be intriguing.

Just to build the foundation of an even bigger defeat.

The Chair banged the gavel to get some silence.  "Gentlemen this is quite unreasonable, nor appropreate for this conference.  I would ask the Representative from the Neatherlands of he believes he is behaving rationally because he appears to not be at the present time. I would also remind him of recent history. History of the Triple Alliance between Brandenburg, New Switzerland, and the Neatherlands against the Republic of France.  I would remind him that it was the threat of invasion of his own homelands by France which fractured that alliance and left the Swiss to fend for themselves in the Pacific.  This war and the actions leading up to it have been between counties that were close friends no more than a decade ago.  Can your sovereign truely believe that this war is nessecary between friends?  Is the canal at Kra that important, that you would continue this war or even expand this unnessecary war by your actions?  While the Swiss are the originators of this conflict, it is the Neatherlands that is the catalyst.  What is this war worth?"

"I also ask the rest of the present Alliance, what is this war worth?  Is it worth abandoning ones allies?  Is it worth attacking ones former allies and friends?  While Austria was never an ally of the Swiss, Brandenburg and Holland were, as was Japan to a point.  What has happened?  Why the war? "

"And to the Lady in Red from New Switzerland, your nation has managed to gain far to many enemies out of ones friends.  Perhaps it may be time to not be so bombastic and firery with you foreign policy and instead try to make honest friendships rather that attempt to butter the bread on both sides, if you understand such a concept.  The legancy of Swiss piracy will likely need to end as it has in Rohan.  Only our pirate-hunters and privateers in times of war still exist.  The days of Blackbeard and Captain Kidd are over.  We must have peace if your country is to survive the economic damages your merchant fleet has sustained and the negative press that has soiled your national honor."

The Swiss delegation is at the moment too shocked to speak. But if everything goes thru, NS will have to invite a number of neutral countries to form an anti-piracy fleet in the DEI, untill NS can rebuild its cruiser forces.
