There's nothing to discuss about Keeling. It was transferred to Orange, lock, stock and barrel. No lease.

As the point involves territory administered by Orange, any deal omitting Orange from any deal regarding Christmas Island would be translated to as a slight on the Republic itself (and would devaluate international diplomacy even further in Orange eyes).

Ser att Orange fattade piken.

Well if sovereignty of the island change the alliance can simply start negotiations for a new lease of the island by Oranje, and then it would be the kind of bilateral deals the Oranje so like. Bast of all, It also removes the issue from discussion here.
So, next point.

QuoteWell if any Swiss money or any other form of support, directly or indirectly affects anything on Kra you are breaking treaty.
That is very, very broad. And what you are proposing directly affects the entire economy of a neutral nation. NS will not do anything that will affect a neutral nation if said nation does not give its approval first. Best NS can do at the moment is give its word that it will try its best to have said article revoked from said treaty.

Now you are mixing up "Can not" with "Do not want to" again. And starting this war have hurt Siam allot so that Swiss claim is just a big lie anyway.

If Switzerland truly wants peace it should start to compromise, so far we have seen noting of that, just whining over technicalities.

But that might be too much to expect from a state whose greatest heroes are women-beating, child-raping pirates...

Next day. Orange delegate stands up.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, after overnight talks the Republic of Orange and the United States of New Switzerland arrived at a clean solution to point 2. The sovereignty of Christmas island is transferred to Orange, valid by this day."

Minister Torres replied, "Thank you for this information.  Gran Colombia was going to consider suggesting exactly that action, so I will instead thank you both for resolving the matter.

"As a side note, Orange is on the public record as receiving ownership of Keeling and the Swiss Chagos islands in December, at a time when the original owner, New Switzerland, was also in physical control of the islands. Gran Colombia considers this a legitimate transaction and sees no need to further consider these islands at this conference.

Torres looks to the Swiss representative.  "The Siamese might, as a favor to their Swiss friends, consent to void or amend the treaty between your two nations.  If the canal is economically viable, the Siamese should be able to secure alternate sources of investment anyway.  Given how the war has affected the traditional passages around the East Indies, the Siamese may be able to make an enticing case for a different route."

Carthaginian

From Mosby:

"I agree as well. The King of Siam would likely be happy to shed himself of his alliance with the Swiss if it means that his Excellency could secure one or several more financiers for this project. I propose that Siam be contacted and consulted about this point of discussion.

Beyond this, are there any other points up for discussion?"

The Iberian Amabassador stands, "Iberia is willing to take over New Switzerlands obligations towards the Canal Project if both Siam and New Switzerland are willing to accept this modification."

Borys

- Austria-Hungary is very happy that the issue of ex-Swiss Indian Ocean possessions has been clarfied, i.e. that there are none. One point less.
- The Iberian suggestion is splendid, and has Habsburg support.

- You might end up having to accept both this and the original point eight. I gave you the best offer  the Alliance was prepared to give.

Well that would  de-facto change nothing, so is not accepteble for inculsion in a peace treaty.
Also, that would really be an issue between Iberia and Sima, and not something for this conference.

"It would remove the Swiss from involvement in the Kra Canal.  Is that not what the Netherlands is seeking?"

To do that the Swiss simply have to accept the ยง, If Iberia or anyone wants to compensate Siam have nothing to do with a treaty between the Allied Powers and the swiss aggressors. No need to make issues more complex just for fun.

"Perhaps the Netherlands would prefer to SUGGEST a neutral party to take over the Kra Canal aid and regulation in conjunction with Siam. This would greatly speed things along, and remove the last source of contention in these talks."

- Splendid! - exclaimed the Old Goat ... err Old Warhorse Przewalski.
- let us call* for the Siamese envoy#, for the Iberians, the Swiss - if they truely wish to remove this item from the peace negotiatons in a honourable manner - and the Siamese to work out something on the Canal business.

* - not being a Great Power, the Siamese may be invited to forward an opinion on affairs concerning them directly
# - not being a Great Power, the Siamese dd not have Ambassadors, but their Legations were headed by Minisiters or Envoys

Why? Siam is not an issue here, the Swiss are.

The issue is really simple: Will the swiss stop any inolvment in any form direct or indirect towards the Kra canal; Yes or No?
The rest is only swiss defencs of why they do not want to, and that is really irrelevant to the issue at hand.
