6.  Tasmania is annexed by Brandenburg as a protectorate for five years.  After which time the residents may choose to rejoin the United States of New Switzerland, or any other power, become independent, or remain a protectorate for another five years to repeat the cycle.

Not annexed. 5 year occupation. However, observing the apparent inability of the DKB to take  objectives of any significance in Tasmania, this point is far from justified.

QuoteThere was an international warning, so any nation who guides its ships too close to the blockade and loses those ships due to gunfire from the Japanese warships can only blame themselves for ignoring that warning.
But the blockade was proven ineffective which means the Japanese have to issue another blockade if they are to sink more neutral ships. ;)

QuoteThe primary question is if the countries whose flags are being flown have been informed that that their flags are flying on Swiss ships, or if in fact the Swiss ships have been registered in foreign ports within the last few months in a effort to make them safer than if they were still registered as Swiss ships.  (Like most freighters and passanger liners of today being registered in Panama, Nigeria, or Liberia rather than their native counties).

Ah, but none of our armed vessels do. Everyone knows the Big Bad Evvvvillllll Swissmen, on the other hand...
All unarmed Swiss Merchants not operating on combat operations where registered elsewhere.

But according to rules of combat, disguises ARE allowed, so long as the true identity of the ships is revealed BEFORE it opens fire.

So far the Germans have nothing more than a small fishing village, no food and no ammo, heck they don't even have a fleet!

I might note that the wording was to imply a seperation of Tasmania from the Swiss under Brandenburg terms rather than an occupation army (Rohan has hopes a civility and nobility, as misplaced as they are in this age), so the wording was accurate for the Rohirrim mindset (as oppose to the reality of the situation at the time).

Well, as long as they stay clear of the blockade, they need not fear the Japanese shells...
... or do you prefer it if I were to use a Fritz X instead of a shell? ;D
QuoteNot annexed. 5 year occupation.
I would think that the word "annexed" is used to make it sould less negative. :)
QuoteBut the blockade was proven ineffective which means the Japanese have to issue another blockade if they are to sink more neutral ships.
Not from what I read. True, it's not entirely watertight, but it is definitely not ineffective and it is still in place.

As of June 30, 1908, the blockade of Saipan has be more or less effective.  Some ships did arrive for a relief effort, but none of those ships survived for very long afterwards and none escaped.  No other ships have managed to break the blockade and while land forces still gains small victories over the blockade, they have yet to force the Japanese to leave, nor have received much in terms of supplies (the relief force being whatever could be removed by the Navy from Hainam before it fell).

The only reason I posted this at all is there is much Debate Currently in the Senate about what is the best Route to Rohan for Our Envoy to the Conference.  Many are saying it is better for him to take his chances crossing the Pacific where he would have a warship to protect him instead of trying to cross the CSA in its current state of unrest, Also while stopping at neutral points this would allow Italia to have first hand information on the state of the pacific war(a visit with New Swiss, Japan, and Brandenburg on their home soil also wouldn't be ruled out) of course we will be sending one of our newest ships (most likely Numidicas) Either way.  So were our Envoy to take the Pacific Route, I would be most displeased if anyone were to fire upon him.

(OOC)
I know that it's longer but what im thinking about is.
A: it would ensure the World got a good look at my Baby Battleships.
B: I would get actual first hand reports for the Emperor about the conditions in the Pacific
C: The CSA is the only nation in NA I have regular relations with and they are in a quasi civil war.
D: If I took him overland I would most likely have to port in the UNK and how would they feel about having a foreign warship docked in their harbors for up to a month.
E: I could make a grand Cruise of it and visit the heads of all the warring Parties

You could:
A. Send the ship around the Horn for a tour of South America.
B. Use Gran Columbia's canal and make your way through the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific. (Rohan and France's canals will not be ready until January 1909)
C. Take a land route over New Beleriand (Nicaragua) for transit on the Pacific side or train though Mesoamerica and western Confederate States to Rohan.
D. Take the long train trip across North America (the first rail line between UKA and Rohan is still safe, only the second is delayed at the moment)
E.  Go the Indian Ocean-Pacific Ocean route through hostile waters.  An escort can be arranged.  While the combatants may be out for blood, few are foolish enough to try to sink Rohirrim warships.  The locals are more apt to try to sink French warships.  (The French may blow off such incidents, but the Rohirrim tend to take things personally, as seen with the long search for Argival Mars).

Just in case anyone thought differently, the Kingdom of the Netherlands will be present at the conference.

Good thing that you mentioned that bit, Korpen...

Just in case anyone from Wesworld thought differently, the Greater Empire of Japan will be present at the conference with a normal person and he will arrive in time to participate. :)

Pubilus Rutilius Rufus wonders if he should bring his sword and sidearm with him, although surely it is safer than a long ocean voyage (he hates ships they tend to make him seasick)

Tanthalas,
keep in mind that despite all the imperial aspirations, Italy is Italian not Latin.

Pubilus Rutilius Rufus should be Publio Rutilio Rufo. Cf. Gaio Giulio, Giulio Cesare, etc.

No need for a sword or sidearm, though Pubilo Rufus is more than welcome to bring them.
He can even bring hunting rifles, and enjoy a short excursion for mule deer in the Texas panhandle if he so chooses, or perhaps whitetail in the Missouri mountians... some are known to top 300 pounds!

Oh I know but I liked my names =P and since I just finished reading The First man in Rome I decided to uhm borrow some of the historical figures.  I figured if we can have the Riders of Rohan and Yellowstone Exploding id have fun with some honest to god Romans.

Now back to crashing airplanes.  Got to finish testing on the XI
