War Emergency Minelayer

The loss of both Nautilus (mine off Singapore) and Albatross (grounded, towed home, settled at berth) necessitated the addition of a minelayer to the 1908 programme. The ship will be built to the same design as the previous two, slightly modified in the engine and armour departments.

War Emergency Panzerschiff

In 1901, the panzerkreuzer Odin suffered a still-classified accident and was stripped before being placed as an accomodations hulk at Vogeldreck, Neue Heligoland, Brandenburg Chagos. The ship's armament, turrets and all, was placed in a government warehouse in Dar-es-Salaam. This ship makes use of that stockpiled weaponry. A cheap and cheerful panzerschiffe of the "hulls in the water" war-emergency type to respond to New Zion's purchased ships, that can also put mines in the water if needed. The ram bow protudes 3.5 meters for those close-in acts of desperation...

(The sim was heavily influenced by the historical Swedish Dristigheten.)

(This is SS3 sim as that's all that's on the internet-accessible computer. SS2 version may come soon as we have a new modem for the WinXP-with-SS2 computer.)

(57 tons taken off for weight of first and third batteries armour from stockpile. Armament weight all from stockpile (except for that lone Hotchkiss balloon-buster).)

I'd not use 350mm torpedoes, myself, they are too short-ranged. Increase their diameter to 450-500mm to reflect the technology level.

The DKB has 500mm (just completed...), 450mm, 400mm and 350mm torpedoes; the latter are used in the U-boats, and for a cheap last-ditch weapon it would be the logical choice. But it can be increased to 400mm just as easily...

Work on the engine originally developed by Herr Rudolf Diesel at the Weissenstab has born fruit. This little bathtub toy is to be the definitive testbed for the new Brandenburgian Diesel-cycle engine, and the first DKB military vessel powered by same. Small armament included to allow for policing of the Port of Brandenburg after testing is completed.
