An attempt to make the most of the new engine and oil firing technology.
She is very fast by Netherlands standard, although she is a knot or two slower then most other countries modern light cruisers.
But she compensates that by having a broadside of no less then 8 15cm guns, so she is expected to be very efficient in disrupting attack from small torpedo crafts. Special attention as been taken to maximise the field of fir for the guns, allowing her to fire broadsides to about 120 degrees to each side.
She also have plenty of misc weight for mines, radio, minesweeping and other equipment that might be needed.

But to large extent she can be considered a experimental ship.
There is no such thing as overgunned! ;)

Rule 37. There is no "overkill". There is only "open fire" and "I need to reload".
;D

Not bad!

Ahoj!
The 6 inchers will be slow to train, with those heavy shields.
I'd sacrifice a bit of stability to add to seakeeping. Unless this class is built for colonial use.

Put is like this, she will serve in the NOI. So you could say that se will be of colonial use.
But the comment about the weight of the shield will require some thought.

I'd modify the design so it could fit in a 120m lvl-1 drydock. Even of it costs a gun mount or two.

P3D: Ah, good catch, thanks, I did not think of that one.

Also fixed the shielded mounts, It seems I hade given the ship enclosed mounts.
Also made her 50 tons larger and a better sea boat.

The ship is mainly intended for fleet action.

Ahoj!
Still doesn't fit 120m drydocks :)
Over-armed :D

IMO would be much better with 8x6inch.

Apart from that - quite nice.

Well it's always been my understanding that the slip and drydock lengths are given as LWL, with enough "breathing space" that, barring a truly massive ram bow*, bow and stern overhangs don't matter.

* Starts getting ideas for the Afrikaflotte...  ;D

OK - you've been on Navalism longer me - but my understanding was that the slip and drydock lengths are total lengths ...
:)
Thus IMO a 120m DD will take a ship up to 115? 117? metres long, this including all possible overhangs etc.

I took for granted it was WL length that counted as the amount of overhang has no effect on the ship in springsharp.
I used a clipped bow and rear overhang purely out of esthetic reason, as I like that look better. I could give har straight bow and stern, it does not affect the sim of the ship.

Removed one gun and used the weight saved to deepen the belt and raise the freeboard a bit more.
The broadside is kept intact by mounting one more gun on the centreline, and most of the guns have excellent firing arcs, C & D gun can fire almost directly aft, and thanks to the high position of the wing guns she can fire four guns directly aft/forward.
