Bavaria is a new playing nation?

Borys

Ahoj!
I was bored, so I decided to "flesh out" Bavaria. So that it is not a nebulous NPC, but a well defined NPC. Over time I may do this with other NPCs.
However, Freeze declared the intention of taking over Bavaria. So Bavaria PC is coming :)

It's always good to know what we're up against. :)

Desertfox

Most excellent! Now I just have to contact Bavaria...

BTW I think we should have a board for NPCs, sevral are pretty important and already have their forces fleshed out (ie Siam).

That is somewhere on the "to do" list :)
But you are right, it is a good thing to have fleshed out NPCs, to avoid surprises like we had at the old board.

@Borys

The ships look very good to me, but i'm limited to 5000 PS per shaft at the moment..., otherwise i would prefer a armament of 10 10,5 cm and 4 or 6 5,2 cm. I have a lot of research to do, Torpedo Technology and Light cruiser architecture.

Borys

Ahoj!

I thought Bavaria had better tech than that, that it got the same Naval tech that Austria had in 1904. Maybe I overlooked that, must look for old posts on subject. Maybe Koenigreich Bayern bought this tech in 1/1906?

It should be a simple swap 2x150cm for 4x10,5cm.

The way I wrote up Bavaria those 2 cruisers and 10 TBs exhaust the supply of naval officers the Kingdom has :)

Possible sources:
- Habsburg Navy - even though the Tirol was not a prime recruitment ground for Navy Officers, the habsburg fleet suffered serious downsizing, with an excess of manpower at present. Even though posting as advisors to the Middle Kongdom navy alleviated the problem of having officers/NCOs on land, this still is an issue. I suppose you can poach a dozen or two more officers and corresponding number of NCOs, including one Linienschiff Kapitan
- half a dozen from the DKB? - lured by promotion, maybe from Catholic minority
- another dozen or two from the French Navy, as the remaining Badeners/Wurtembergers, mabe Alsatians see that Bavaria is serious about a fleet?
- half a dozen/ dozen from the Baltikum - lured by promotion, maybe from Catholic minority, maybe hoping for Bavaria to be the unifier of Germany/unhappy with Scandinavian bent of Baltikum/ Saxon revival (there is a strong Plattdeutsch movement at present, with use of Low German with Nederlands inspired orthography being very trendy in influential circles in German speaking part of Baltikum; a "we are Saxons and poo on Schwabs/Franks/Hessians/Bavarians movement")

Rough guide - minesweepr/ small TB - 1 or 2 officers, GTB (750 + tons) - 3 officers, small cruiser 6-10 officers, large cruiser - c.15 officers, battleship 30-40 officers.
Time needed to train Officer from Kadett to Linienschiffekaapitan - 20 years at minimum. First homegrown Bavarian Kontr-Admiral - c.1930.

Ahoj!
Quite nice. Seems you have a large reserve in that design, with overall strenght 1,5.
Maybe add two more 105mm guns?
Add a 2 inch belt?
Large stability reserve - you can change trimm  to  improve "gunnery platform".
Maybe increase range?

I'd go for a lighter deck, and a belt like Borys is suggesting.
Also, if possible, I'd go with 18" torpedoes.
14" just seems a little too small.

Quit nice. I'd prefer to have 2x15cm on the ends, of course :)
I'm not so sure about the oil - you have none, and have ample coal.

Really nice boat, got a nice balance. The only thing is that she might lack a bit of a heavy punch that 15cm guns can give, this might put her at a disadvantage against enemy cruisers.

But oil firing in 1906? I think pretty much no-one had it back then (in game that is).
