With the loss of 2 CBs at Sulu Sea, NS is looking for replacements. Note her 21kt max speed, NS is no longer going to build ANY ship under 20kts. 21kts allows her to avoid Arcadias, only BCs can take her as she is capable of meeting ACs on equal terms.

Originaly I was going to replace th 8" and 10" guns with 9", but the heavier weigth of the 10" shell has ressurected that gun. The main armament is optimised for shore bombardment, with a combination of heavy (10") and light (6") shells.

She'll be able to free my heavier units for more important tasks, like sinking enemy ships ;)

Not at all, that was the first fight of the war, most of the Netherlands fleet vs two CBs...

Spoiler? That's OLD news. ;)

I still don't know when I'll build them so don't know what engine I'll use. Note that they'll be using Turbo-Electric Drive. Gives better torpedo protection and range, two very important things for NS, especially the torpedo one, my ships are definately torpedo magnets, The ships I've lost to gunfire in all the wars can be counted in one hand, those lost to underwater damage...

Well, the old CBs were destroyed by gunfire...
And while I understand something has to give, a belt only at most a bit over one meter under the waterline is very vulnerable to getting hits that pass under the belt and armoured deck.
At full speed parts of the bottom of the belt will pretty much be on the waterline due to the bow wave.

The rules don't like the superfiring 6" turrets.

Whats the problem with the 6 inchers? Take USS South Carolina, replace superfiring 12" with 8", now sqeez the ship down reducing main armament by 2", bingo NSS Saipan! She is period appropriate even if the rules aren't.
