The Swiss seamen are not traveling in the liners, they are sailing the liners. Four entire prize crews!

Modified Ithekro's map.
Green is Manta's group
Yellow is Balao's group
Blue is Perch
Orange is Atair
X is approximate location as of daybreak March 23rd (note Atair's is too far north)

Korpen, I need two things before responding, first what date and time, secondly which group North or South?

Considering the Dutch are reacting to Swiss actions, it doesn't matter all that much where they are, but where the Swiss are that matters.  Their leaving port was out of reaction earlier, but they have less distance to travel, so the actual date at time depends on Swiss actions more than Dutch.

Dutch arrival at Keeling may be of some interest depending on what day they arrive.  The Dutch vessels heading to Keeling where ones that picked up survivors, or another group?

Question:  Where is Atair going in such a hurry?

Desertfox

Atair is heading for Keeling, she was to reinforce the New Amsterdam Squadron but is somewhat late. However (and totally unintentionally) she is perfectly placed (she'll arrive on the 26th) to help out if the Dutch start firing.

Mmmm, fresh meat  (for Justice and Resolve).

Desertfox

Bait for the hunters...Constitution and Alliance are in Palau and will move as soon as news of Dutch intevention break out. And pretty fast bait at that.

The plot thickens...(Is that the Imperial March I hear in the background?)

Ithekro

Perhaps, but who's empire?

(We might need a checklist of just how many countries the Swiss will honk off with this action if they get away with it.)

Any objection to this whole mess happening in September-October instead of March? Just to be in accordance with everyone's reports.

Utterly irrelevant for me when it happens, I just want it to start ending so we can move on.

So...are you guys sorting things out?

maddox

The mess is deeping. But the Dutch have blackened out the stream of information.

Desertfox

Not really maddox, Manta has probably the best wireless in the area. But jamming does affect it so there will be not a lot but at least a trickle of information.

Balao, September 23rd morning

"Skipper, there's heavy jamming to the North. Manta has broken radio silence but we are only getting intermittent signal."

"Anything interesting?"

"Except for run, firing, Dutch, random words, and static, we haven't gotten anything else."

"Manta would not have broken radio silnce without a reason. There's something going on and it seems the Dutch are involved. Signal the rest of the fleet, proceed to "Tortugas' independantly and at best speed. Initiate special plan. Signal Fritz, follow me. Nav takes us a bit North, if there's something I want to be the first to know it."

Note, Balao is not heading North, she is only a bit North of her original route.

As far as I understand that NS is using encryption. If you get only part of the radio message, you cannot decypher it.

If they cipher they use is based in anyway on the sequence of the letter for deciphering, they having a scrambled message to work with is a pain to decipher. You can still get information out of it, but then we are looking at several hours work for a specialist to filter out what is real and what is not. Much depend on luck, as a human operator can only hear so many signals at once, and he only have fractions of a second to decide what it is that he heard.

However if the message is in any kind of monoalphabetic cipher it is much easier to get some information out of them, they are however useless for anything you want to keep secret for any period of time, as pretty much ever power had the competence to decipher them  rapidly on regular basis since the 18th century.

The surest way to get the information over is to transmit in clear, but if they do that, other interesting things will happen... ;)

Hopefully i can start adressing all other things by tonight.

That would be good; I'm a teensy bit curious as to what's happening.

Desertfox

I do use encryption but this one was transmitted over the clear, others have heard it.
