Battle in Indian Ocean!

The NSN has just released reports of a Battle in the Indian Ocean! A Swiss Fleeet on the hunt for International Master Criminal, Agrival Mars, was attacked by rouge French Fleet Units! NO further information other than that the attackers where completly annihilated at a cost of one cruiser has been released at this time. The hunt for Agrival continues...

March 27th

The NSN has just released further information on the Battle. The Rouge French ships have been identified as Terrible class supercruisers. The names of 187 (including 15 who died) French sailors picked up by the ships have also been released. It has been announced that those strong enough to face trial have been charged with Piracy and Obstruction of Justice.

Also announced has been the capture of four Agrival flagged merchants carrying a cargo of 'most sensitive nature'. If Agrival has been captured has not been released at this time.

To questions about a possible French response, the NSN has revealed the precense of moving pictures of the engagement. However those pictures have not been released at this time.

Vienna
Official circles are shocked by:
- battle between NS fleet and French fleet
- the fact that French warships were rouge - Austrian ships have pink bottoms, but painting warships ROUGE seems to be taking Gallic flair a notch too far.
- that Agrival has a fleet in the Indian Ocean

Vienna has quietly inquired at the French Embassy for further news

Depends on what day they got out the report....and what day the battle was.

Desertfox

As far as I know there have been no 'accidents' on the underwater telegraph lines. Besides the news come from 'Tortugas' not Keeling.

I know what I'd do if I were playing, it is just resiting the temptation to do it.

OOC:Intern every Swiss Merchant Man in UNK harbours, or territorial waters

That entirely depends on what information gets out.  All we have is the know loss of multiple French cruisers, a few Swiss cruisers, and the capture of four "Agrival flagged" merchantment with an unknown cargo.  We know the Swiss line is that they were operating in an anti-piracy fashion on the lookout for Mr. Mars and have charged the French prisoners of piracy (probably because they fired first) and obstruction of justice, which I'm not sure is a possible charge when one is in international waters.  Though my knowledge of such legal matters is quite insufficient to sat at this time.

Well, the Firanji, Caliphate and Peruvian government might just do that.

All the UNK would car about would be the attack made on French Warships by New Swiss Warships, which if that causes a state of war between France, and New Switzerland, would, by the words of the treaty of New York, mean that the UNK would have no option but declare war on the New Swiss, & similarly for Russia.

But Mommy they fired first! Now I just have to find the tapes to prove it. Now where did I leave those tapes?

So far the only thing that is know is what's on the Swiss news, and so far in three confrontations between Swiss and French, the Swiss have told the truth (and the French know that).

Edit: Before you start quoting treaties remember one you made with an ally of yours that got flattened just a few months later and you made no move to help...yes the Swiss are truly evil (and read the news to boot!)

You were going to ram the French ships. Steaming 15knots in the direction of military vessels is a hostile act in itself. They were notifying you not to engage. Nevermind that you did not have a single cause to investigate the ships and effectively confiscate them.

Now you engaged in an open act of government-sponsored piracy. Its secondary, however, that you did sign an apparently worthless paper about piracy on the open seas in Hague.
